With any online business the main key to success is generating targeted traffic for your website. There are a number of different ways you can go about doing this, however everyone wants to see fast results, and the only way to achieve such results is to spend money on advertising. Probably the most fastest way to bring in high quality targeted traffic to your website would be Google Adwords.
For those that of you that do not know what Google Adwords is its a place you join and pay money for your ads to be shown on the side of Google for keywords you pick. The keywords you choose are targeted around your business and product which results you in receiving highly targeted traffic.
Now picking your keywords to use can be very difficult especially if you are in a very completive business. Some keywords could get up to has high as a dollar or more per click. You would probably want to stay away from those keywords, and stick to the cheaper ones that are more targeted. If you can pick high targeted keywords you will increase your ROI. So how much should you spend for each keyword? Well each keyword will be different. It all really depends on how popular the word or word phrase is. That is why if you can be as specific as you can the cost for the keyword will greatly come down.
I usually tell people not to spend no more then 35 cents per click for any given keyword. However sometimes that just is not possible if your targeting very popular keywords.
Now lets go over a few steps you need to take to setup a Google Adwords account.
1. Create a account with Google Adwords
2. Login and create a ad campaign
3. Fill out your title and description using a catchy headline that stands out along with a good ad body
4. Now choose very targeted keywords that relate to your business
5. Set a daily budget as well as a CPC cost per click for your keywords
Once you do those five steps you will have your very first Google Adwords campaign setup and ready to go. You can also make other ad groups if you choose to do so. Doing this will allow you to target other keywords that also relate to your business or product. Remember PPC pay per click will be your fastest way to draw high quality traffic to your website. So if your looking for fast result then this is your answer.

Top 9 Reasons to Work at Home
Working at home has been getting easier these past several years. With the Internet opening up new home business opportunities as well as more jobs that can be done from home, the possibilities are quite simply amazing.
Depending on what you want to do, it can be easy or difficult to get started. If you have a job with a company that allows telecommuting already, it can be easy. Starting a business or finding a work at home job... easy or hard, depending on your skills, what you want to do, and just a touch of luck sometimes.
Not all reasons will apply to everyone. They can depend on what you do and how your family works. But you can generally get at least a partial benefit from any of these.
But there are some great reasons to work at home.
1. Saving on gas.
This is a really minor reason in many ways, but as gas prices go up people have been more and more interested in this idea. Even telecommuting one day a week can save you on gas costs.
2. No commute.
Or if you do have to drive to work or to clients sometimes, you may be able to avoid rush hour traffic. This saves frustration and time.
3. A more flexible schedule.
Not always true, but often enough. Depending on what you do, you might be working standard business hours, late nights, early mornings, or whatever time is best for you to work at. You are more likely to be able to be there if you have a child who needs you and run errands when it suits you.
4. No boss staring over your shoulder.
If you have a work at home job rather than a home business, you will still have a boss and have to meet your goals, but you don't have to deal with one all day. But this can be a negative if you need feedback.
5. More time with your family (?)
Once again, a huge advantage, but not true for all people working from home. Many will still need childcare so that they can get their work done. However, if you're keeping regular hours, you at least can lose the commute time and cut back on the rush in the mornings and evenings.
6. Simpler wardrobe.
Working at home means you don't have to spend so much on keeping your wardrobe current and you don't need so many "Dry Clean Only" outfits. Each of these can save you quite a bit of money.
7. The ability to follow your dreams.
More for people running a home business than working a job. Running a business is a dream for many people, one which allows them to make money from something they truly love doing. Working is more fun when you really, really love what you do.
8. Saving on lunch.
You won't need to eat out so often. Your refrigerator is right there, and if you plan ahead each evening, leftovers can make a quick and easy lunch. Your sodas and coffee also aren't marked up so much if you're buying your usual from the grocery store.
9. You can set up your office the way you want it.
No worries about corporate rules on how your desk has to be set up. Whatever decor makes you happy, you can have. Same for music, if you don't need absolute quiet when you're on the phone.

Are Your Network Marketing Efforts Taking You in the Right Direction?
There are some basic things just about everyone getting into network marketing or direct sales is told to do. Work your warm market. Talk about your opportunity every chance you get.
Too bad those really aren't effective for a lot of people. You're far more likely to really annoy your family and friends and get very few signups that way. With all the companies out there, all the possibilities available to any person you might talk to, it can be very hard to sell people on why they should join your opportunity.
Don't forget how hard it is to actually get people working their business when you get them signed up. I can tell you from personal experience that even when you are successful and want to help family members get going, most of those who express interest still won't go anywhere with whatever you give them. Many people just don't have the drive.
So what do you do?
You want to find people who want to do what you do. You want them to come to you.
And that means you need to stop lying to them. You want them to expect to work. No more telling prospects that the product sells itself. You know full well it doesn't. You probably even know that just talking to people about how much you love the products you sell is a form of selling, even if you insist that no selling is involved in your opportunity.
No matter what you were told by your upline, you know that success does not come easily. Success comes after hard work. If it were easy, everyone would do it and there would be no money in it.
One of the major keys is to have a good system in place to help your prospects along. Some companies make it incredibly difficult to market your opportunity online, but if you can do it the possibilities are just about endless. All you need is something to offer people who are interested in your business and a genuine desire to help them out.
The wonderful thing about this is that once you have a system in place, you can attract solid prospects to you, rather than buying leads and wasting money. If people see you as a valuable resource, one willing to help them succeed, they will come to you and their success will fuel your own.
Honesty really is the best policy, especially in business. If you can attract people to your business by telling them what they really need to know in order to succeed you will gain their respect and trust. With that you have a better chance at building a business relationship that will benefit the both of you.

The Slight Edge Philosophy...
The slight edge philosophy is the idea of performing either simple disciplines or simple errors in judgment that will either build or destroy your business. The simple disciplines are what you want to get accustom to. I promise you that if you follow simple disciplines you will be able to double, triple, or even quadruple your income within the next twelve months.
It is not difficult at all to build a massively successful MLM business if you follow the simple disciplines, such as, making your phone calls every day, following up with people consistently, going to all the business briefings, even if you have seen them a hundred times, doing your 15 minutes of personal development a day, or doing your exposures every day. You already know what you have to do to be successful in the business; you just have to do it.
It's easy to do all the things that I've just mentioned. All you have to do to make an exposure is go up to someone and tell him or her about what you're doing.
Is it really that difficult to open your mouth? It's easy, but it's also easy not to do, and that is the trap that so many people fall into when they are in this business. They fall into the trap of performing simple errors in judgment, rather than performing the simple daily disciplines that are going to create them a more preferable compounded effect.
I mean, think about it. Let's take smoking for example. You smoke a cigarette today; It's just one cigarette, right? Correct! That one cigarette isn't going to give you cancer, but once you get in the habit of doing it on a daily basis, you probably will get cancer, because of the compounded effect that all started with that one cigarette. That simple error of judgment compounded over a series of years, is what mattered. It's the small things that don't seem to make a difference today that are the things that make a huge difference in the future.
Now let's take working out as another example. The reason why most people quit working out after their first initial days is because they put so much work into those three or four days and don't see any immediate results. I guess they feel they should see results within two or three days after years of abusing their bodies. That's just not how it works; it takes time before you start seeing any real results that you can be proud of, just as in business. It takes consistency and simple disciplines.
Furthermore, there are no one liners that are going to get people into your business, what you have to grasp are philosophies, empowering philosophies, because your philosophies will drive your actions, and your actions determine your results, and your results determine your lifestyle. Therefore, I suggest you adopt this Slight Edge Philosophy and think about it on a daily basis.
The problem is that most people stop performing the simple disciplines before the compound effect kicks in. It's like the snowball effect; it has to gather some momentum before it becomes a powerful force of nature.
It is this principle alone that distinguishes successful people from unsuccessful people, it is this principle that separates the homeless, from the multi-millionaires. The millionaires take hold of the slight edge philosophy and adopt the concept of simple disciplines, where as, the homeless are totally oblivious and continue to perform the same simple errors in judgement that they most likely started when they were children.
I'm telling you now! If you choose to accept the concept of the Slight Edge Philosophy, you will have a much more abundant life and a much more prosperous business. You really should start applying it to your daily life if you aren't already.
But, the choice is yours; there are two path's you can take!!!
May God Bless You!!

Internet Based Home Business- What Is One Of The Most Important Things You Need
When you have an internet based home business there will be all kinds of tools that you need to help you run your business. You will need a website for your internet home based business plus anything else that you find that will benefit your business. However, there is one thing that will help you become more successful than anything else.
What you will need is a list. Don't know what a list is? This is where you supply a newsletter or ezine to people for free and then they sign up for it. When they sign up they get put on your list to receive your newsletter. This can be more valuable to your business than anything else you will ever have. Let me tell you some reasons why this is so important.
First: When you are trying to do business on the internet you will have to gain the trust of your customers. This can be a hard thing to do because people can't see you or talk to you. Thus it will be very hard to know what kind of person you are and they will have no way of getting to know you to find out. You will provide your list of customers with a free newsletter that will help them learn how to market their business or something that would be of value to them. You also want to provide them with free tools, software or anything else that you think will benefit them. This will help them learn that you want to provide them with things that they will need thus gaining their trust. The more people can see that you care the more liable they are to buy from you or join your opportunity. This leads to our second reason why you want a list.
Second: When you have a business you will have products to sell or an opportunity that you need to build a team for. When you have a list of customers that already trust you they will take your word for it when you tell them that they need something. So you can continue to send them different products or opportunities for your home business. They will more than likely buy from you over someone else because they already know you.
There may be just two reasons here but they are very important reasons why you will want your own list. I could go on and on about this but you need find out about lists and why you want one by researching it. This can be your most important tool for your internet based home business. So educate yourself on it and start your own list now. You will be glad you did.

Choosing The Perfect Home Business Idea
A lot of people get stumped when it comes to choosing a home business. In some cases, people are confused as to what home business they will engage in that they either end up starting a few home businesses at the same time or never really start anything at all. In both cases, the entrepreneur does not gain anything of value. If you are of those people who have no idea what home business is right for you, you should first make an inventory of your skills and resources before you attempt to start any type of business. Always remember that at home business is not something that will grow on its own so make sure that you know what you are doing if you do not want to end with lots of frustrations and no money.
Choose Something That You Are Familiar With
When it comes to choosing the perfect home business idea, it would be a good idea for you to focus your attention on the things that you are familiar with. For instance, if you are a computer programmer, it would be a good idea for you to explore the possibilities of engaging into a programming business. On the other hand, if you are one of those people who love to work with your hands, it would be a good idea for you to find a business that will put your creativity to good use.
Never attempt to start a home business that requires certain skills that you do not have at the moment. Note that it is always easier for you to spot opportunities in a field that you are very much familiar with. Yes, you can always learn new skills but since learning new skills will take a lot of item, effort and money on your part, you might as well stick to the things that you already know and save yourself from a lot of trouble. There is really no point in going through all the troubles of learning new things when you can capitalize on the things that you already know.
Find The Softest Entry Point
When it comes to setting up your home business, you need to probe into a specific industry and find a soft entry point. For instance, if you are a writer and you would like to engage into online writing, it would be a good idea for you to start working on some non paying or low paying jobs for a while and build your portfolio. Once you have collected some impressive items in your portfolio, you can move on to those high paying jobs and earn some really good income. Take your time when it comes to setting up your small business. Always remember that business do not grow overnight so be patient. There may be times when money is scarce and your business will not do so well but if you are patient and work hard towards your goal, you will eventually achieve that goal.

The Essentials of Starting a Home Business
Starting an online business from your home is a big step. You're frantically trying to put all of the pieces together while also worrying about the financial aspects of owning a business. When you're just starting out, concentrate on the essentials of owning a home business. Try not to focus too much on what the future might hold, but stay focused on what's necessary right now to get things up and running.
Below are some essentials you should focus on when starting an online business from your home. Your business organization and success could depend on it!
Essential #1: Home Office Basics
One of the biggest mistakes home-based business owners make is that they fail to create a well-organized home office. Your home office should be a comfortable working area, have plenty of storage space and contain all the necessary equipment to operate your business efficiently such as a printer, phone, calculator, file cabinet and minor supplies.
Working at home doesn't mean your work area design is no longer important. You'll want to be comfortable as well as professional. No matter how limited your space you can create a nice, neat working area with a little creativity.
Essential #2: Tax Preparation System
An absolute essential for your home business is a system for preparing your taxes. If you're taking orders online, you'll need to file taxes using certain methods. The reason this is important at the start of your business is because keeping good records is necessary for proper tax filing. This should be carefully planned from the beginning to avoid mistakes that could cost you later. Speak with an accountant about your particular business needs, and how you should keep records for taxes. It's good to have all bases covered in this area!
Essential #3: Business Budget
Having a business budget is a wise decision, even if you're starting out with very little money. You might ask, "How can one budget only a few hundred dollars?" It's simple - just write down what you have versus what you owe. You'll have either a positive or negative balance. The key is being able to know where you stand financially in your business at any given moment. You can only move forward if you have a starting point. Budgeting your money and time from the start will help the flow of your home business.
These three elements are critical when starting a home-based business. You can be flexible in how you go about establishing each of these areas in your business. Starting early will save you from many headaches later.

Starting A Business With Planning
No successful business ever existed without the anticipation of things that may happen upon the establishment of the business and as the business go on. Anticipating may also mean planning. Planning is one way of putting every possibilities and impossibilities together to set up one concrete concept into realization.
Putting up a business is not just as easy as learning the A-B-C. There are complicated things and issues that one must tackle and somehow solve to make the business successful. As said above, there are plenty of factors and considerations that must always be anticipated by the proprietor. These factors are actually existing facts around the proprietor and around the place where the business is intended to be established. One of the existing facts that can greatly affect a business is the feasibility of location. Funds or capital the same are also important factors to consider.
Business planning is a tool that one can utilize in order to arrive at a good, concrete and successful business. There are so many ways or approaches that can be applied in business planning. Basically, the approach that one must use in business planning is directly related to the type of business that he intends to put up. The bigger the intended business is, the more complicated a business planning should be.
So, what does a business plan contain and how does it affect the business in general? A business plan may contain several steps that pertain solely on the business. This will greatly affect the business because this is a fact-supported assumption of what might happen when the business has already launched. Here are some of the several steps or entry that a business plan must have:
-Description of the business - this entry will describe what the venture you are planning to put up is all about. This includes the name of the business and other features of it. You may also include here the benefits and the reason why this business is an advantage to the place.
-Objective of the organization - this is a simple declaration of what the business administrator would want his business to become and to do with the community.
-Feasibility - this is a research that will prove that the business intended to be established will be embraced by the prospected consumers.
-Marketing Plans - this is a procedure or system that is to be followed by the administrator to keep the business going. This will include research on what type or group of people that the business will cater to. Aside from that, this entry must also answer the question of the consumers like what can they get from the business, how can they use the business, the amount they can spend to the business, etc.
-Management and staff planning - a business can never grow if only one person is running it. For example, a grocery store can never grow if the store keeper, the cashier, the proprietor, the auditor, the janitor, etc. is one and the same person. The staff and store management is very important and thus is usually included in a business plan.
-Financial plans - This is the most important entry in a business plan. This will determine whether the business intended to be built can stand for several months without suffering from financial loses and the like. The capital needed is relative to the size and the kind of business to be established.

Do You Want To Get Rich?
Do you want to get rich? That is the question that grabs people's attention. Who doesn't want to get rich? If you are looking for a "work at home" business you might see a lot of promises of quick wealth. I am very leery of anything that promises quick wealth. I would advise people to stay away from opportunities that promise that you will be wealthy in "x' amount of days.
Can you get rich on the internet? Can you start a "work from home" business and get rich? The answer to both of those questions is yes. You won't get rich while you are sleeping as some programs promise. It takes a lot of hard work and determination.
You have to be prepared to invest some money. There is free advertising on the internet. Take advantage of it. It doesn't cost anything. I think it is a great way to supplement your paid advertising. I know that the more you invest in advertising, the greater your chances are to succeed.
If you have plenty of money it might be easy to invest money in advertising. If you, like a good deal of us, have a limited budget it will be difficult to do that. If you have a plan and have faith in yourself, go ahead and take a chance. Chances are you will see great return on that money.
The investment of time to reach the desired riches is also a problem. For those who do not work at another job, time is plentiful. For those of us who work full-time jobs, it is a scramble to find enough time to work on our home business. Personally I have so many ideas of what I would like to do with my business. I dream of having every day, all day, to work on these ideas. I could get so much accomplished! I could even visit forums and really learn a lot more. I could research areas that I am interested in for my business. I could go through even more training material. The list goes on and on. Reality is that I only have limited time, so I must prioritize.
So, if you want to get rich without hard work, you could try winning Lotto. But if you plan to work really hard, if you plan to study a lot, if you plan to invest some money in yourself, and if you are determined to succeed, try starting a "work at home" business. That's what I am doing and I am going to succeed! I hope you do too.

Can I Really Be a Network Marketer?
When I first got into business online, I didn't really know what it meant to be a network marketer or be involved in multi-level marketing (MLM). I wanted to sell a product and a service that would eventually generate a good residual income for me. It is becoming clearer to me now as I get into network marketing that it does take a certain kind of person with certain skills to excel in this business, but if you've got the desire, passion, energy, and commitment to be successful at it, then anyone can do it!
Network marketing, or multi-level marketing is about people. It's about building a team - a downline - and teaching them to be successful like you. Yes, there are different levels in the organization you build, but that's not to say that all network marketing endeavors are pyramid schemes. As long as there is something of value being offered in the program and it's not a program designed to pay only those higher up in the pyramid, then you are pretty safe.
Once you are into a network marketing program, you have to work on yourself and your own success before you can hope to achieve success with others you recruit. The problem is that many people are attracted to the big money aspect of it, and hope to make it big with little effort on their own part. Once you're in, you have to make a commitment to yourself and your program, no matter what big hitters are above you, and you have to work it like any other business. This will take time, and you have to be willing to invest that time, and believe that in time you will see the results you seek.
Believing is huge in this industry because you start with a dream. There is a reason you got involved in network marketing, and one of the big reasons might be that you want to be a millionaire. The trick is to believe and feel that you already are, even if you're far from it. This kind of positive attitude must be maintained, even though everyone will go through good times and bad in their businesses. If you love what you do, you will be able to maintain a healthy attitude and the discipline needed to propel you to greatness.
Most people think that network marketing is about making sales when really it is about relationships with your prospects, your customers, and your team. The best way to be confident about relationship building and team-building is to educate yourself and develop the skills you need to succeed. A lot of it has to do with conquering your fears about talking to new prospects by analyzing what the fear really is and developing the skills you need through practice and repetition. Part of relationship building is also to be a leader to your team and knowing how to handle objections to your offers, or excuses for not joining. Being prepared with a list of questions for your prospects will help you deal effectively with their issues.
Network marketing can be a business for those who are willing to work at it. Money won't grow on trees, so if you want to be successful at it, then take the time to learn, grow, energize yourself, love yourself and what you do, and carry yourself and your team to the top!

Is It Possible To Run Your House and a Business?
Many people wonder if a home business is for them, and the reason that a lot of people hesitate is because they aren't sure that they can run a home business, as well as running their home. Part of having a home business is that you should be able to be at home to take care of the things that you normally wouldn't be able to take care of, at the same time that you are making money from your home business. However, there are several things that you should think about so that you can do both of these things at once. There are several keys that you can use which will make this process much easier, and if you do it right, you should easily be able to run your home business as well as your home, with very little hassle.
Keep It Real
The first thing that you have to be sure to do is to make time for your home business and to make time for your home as well. When you work from home it is very easy to simply work for days at a time, because since your business is at home it can be open 24 hours a day, especially if you are online. You might be tempted to take on other projects or orders or to do more so that you can make even more money. However, if you don't set limits for yourself, you'll find that you aren't able to run your home as well, at the same time.
In order to avoid this problem, the first thing you should be sure to do is taking a good look at the hours you want to work. Just like a regular office your home business should have office hours and hours when you are not available. It is simply too easy to work all of the time, even if you need the money. But keeping hours and making sure that you keep them regularly is a good way to make sure that you will also have time to run your home, as well as your home business.
Own Office
The other thing that you have to remember is that you are going to want to do your best to have your own office space for your home business that is somehow separate from your actual home. Even if you devote a corner of your kitchen or living room to your home business, there should be an area that is only fit for your business, which will make it much easier for you to keep the two things separated. If you can keep your home and your home business apart, you'll have a much better chance of doing them both well.

Home Based Business Ideas - What is Best For You?
So, you've thought about all of the pros and cons to starting your own home based business and you're ready to get the ball rolling. The big question now is, "what business is best for you?" There are a lot of things to consider when starting a new business including: what your good at; how much time and energy you want to spend building your business; how much upfront money it will require and more. Begin now to figure out what business best suits your personal interests and talents by asking these important questions:
What Is My Passion?
Let's face it, starting any business is tough. It takes al lot of time and energy, not to mention patience and persistence. Ask anyone who's been successful and they'll tell you that the most important thing to do is figure out what you're passionate about and find a way to use it to fill a specific need. If you're going to spend all of your days working on building a successful business it might as well be something you have a passion for.
What Are My Expectations?
Exactly what do you want to accomplish with your new business? Do you want to make a million dollars in 10 years? Or do you hope to build something that you can turn over to a manager in a few years to give you more flexible time for the other things that are important in your life? Or maybe you just want to get rid of that nasty morning and afternoon commute and working at home is way to do that. Think carefully about what you expect from your new venture in the future and really look to see if those expectations are reasonable
How Much Money Will This Venture Cost?
Every new business venture costs something in money, time, energy and focus. Sometimes the cost may seem to high to even try. Other times, the costs are minimal. Take the time to really consider how much you'll need in start-up money to succeed and whether or not you can really commit the kind of time and energy necessary to make your new business the success you crave.
Am I Really Ready To Give Up The Security of a Real Job?
Starting a new business from scratch can be a scary endeavor. There are a lot of unknowns including whether or not you can find customers, pay your bills and keep your health insurance. Make sure that your family has the ability both financially and emotionally to handle the ups and downs of running a new business. If not, see what you need to change to prepare yourselves for these changes before you ditch the security of your day job.

Elements of Decision Making in a Home Based Online Business

Why is Decision Making Important?
This is the first in a series of short articles on decision making, as it may affect the progress, or otherwise, of your home based online business. The main purpose of the articles is to get you thinking, more than you might have done, about decisions that affect your business. It is not possible in short articles to cover what is really an endless subject, but I hope by the end of the series you will be more conscious of the decisions you make which may affect:
1.The profitability of your online business.
2.The scope for expansion.
3.Your efficiency.
4.The productive use of your time.
5.Your family.
6.Your enjoyment of working online.
plus many other aspects of working at home online, in your own business.
Why is decision making important? You only need to consider that for a moment to realize: that it is a dumb question. From the moment you wake, you are passing through a series of tens of thousands of little decisions. You are not very aware of most of them, they are routine, semi or sub-conscious decisions. Any one of those little decisions could have a major influence on the future path of your life.
For example, you are in a hurry and decide to cross the road at a certain point. A car comes hurtling around the corner, and knocks you into the air. Thankfully you are still alive after you land, but you are taken to the hospital and stay there for a couple of weeks, at one point in Intensive Care. You are employed, but your employer is not sympathetic, will not pay you, and for a few days you lie there worrying about losing your job. You have no insurance, so how will you pay the bills?
Was crossing the road at that point, at that time, a bad decision? On the face of it, yes, it was stupid to say the least. But what if, in the two weeks in hospital, you fall in love with a nurse? Later, you marry and have several wonderful children? Was that still a bad decision, crossing the road then and there?
Not only did you meet your future spouse, the person in the next bed turned out to have some good business ideas they wanted to put into practice. You got chatting about them as your condition started to improve. The two of you found you saw eye to eye on lots of things, and it was clear that you would both benefit from the synergy of working together on a business project. The other person had the ideas and money in place, but needed you as a partner to take it forward. When you were both fit and well again, he subsidized you while the business was set up. It prospered, and within months you were earning 4 times your previous income. Was that still a bad decision, crossing the road then and there?
That is fiction, but is it unrealistic fiction? No. There are probably many thousands of very similar stories. And there are countless millions of true stories about seemingly little decisions that have altered the course of people's lives.
What I have been referring to are almost random events. I say almost because the decision to cross the road was not random. An adult crossing the road like that had sufficient information to make a correct decision. They did not make use of their knowledge and information. As decision making goes, it was a bad decision, regardless of what random events followed.
Making decisions in your every day business needs to be more focused, more scientific, and much more aware, than you may have been used to in your life as an employee. Most of us have, at some stage, passed through a zombie like existence of repetition, working for a company or other organization. It may even be that you have had little scope to make decisions other than when and where to cross the road, what to eat for dinner, what to watch on tv, and what to wear today. Now, though, with your own online business, there is massive scope for making key decisions, every day. How you do that will have a serious impact on the future of your business.
I believe that just by being more conscious of your decisions, your business will benefit, and so will you. Relying on the business equivalent of crossing the road at the wrong time, meeting the love of your life and your perfect business partner, is not an option if your are serious about your business. You cannot rely on random events, although undoubtedly some random events will affect you in the future. Business is often a percentage game, and you want to make decisions that tilt the odds in your favour.
Decision making in business is about bringing together as much relevant information as possible, in a structured and understandable way, and consciously reviewing that information before arriving at a decision. It is about assessing possible outcomes, probabilities, future trends, past experiences and all other relevant factors. Ignoring those factors may not put you in hospital, but would harm your business.
I will cover elements of business decision making in future articles. In the mean time, if you are in search of a new loved one and business partner, please do not step out in front of a car. Your local hospital may not be the place where they are currently waiting for you.

Are You An Entrepreneur?

If you were to look up the word entrepreneur in the dictionary you would find that it means "a person who organizes and manages any enterprise, a business usually with considerable initiative and risk." These days the term entrepreneur is used so much that it seems like everybody from stay at home moms, to the local tattoo artist, are claiming to be such. The truth is that as fancy as this word maybe, anyone can be an entrepreneur.
Entrepreneurs can be any shape, size, age, race or religion. What makes an entrepreneur an entrepreneur is commitment, the willingness to lead and the passion to succeed. There are certain characteristics that many of the world's most successful entrepreneurs share. Listed below are a few traits that can help you determine if you truly are an entrepreneur.
Great Focus - True entrepreneurs have great focus. These are individuals that once they have a goal set, no one or nothing can stop them from accomplishing that goal.
Creative - Most entrepreneurs have a seemingly effortless way of being creative. Thinking outside the box; that characteristic alone creates a greater earning potential for their business.
Good With Money - Being able to keep track and manage money wisely is another well-known characteristic of an entrepreneur. Knowing where every dollar and cent is and where they are going is very important to entrepreneurs.
Decision Maker - One who can make big decisions on their own without worrying about others opinions. Being able to stand behind their decision without any doubt whatsoever.
The Ability To Lead - Most entrepreneurs put themselves in the position of being the boss. This may mean that this person has employees under him/her. In this instance, the individual must be able to lead and give direction to others in a clear and productive manner.
Always Learning - True entrepreneurs never stop learning. They are always eager to discover new, more efficient ways to make their business more successful. Learning is a desire, not a necessity for these people.
Fearless - Having no fear is definitely a characteristic of a entrepreneur. Not fearing critics, competitors, consumers and most of all, not fearing failure. Not fearing these things is automatic for any real entrepreneur.
The list above will help you determine if you are indeed an entrepreneur. If you are not an entrepreneur, but aspire to be one you will need to develop most if not all of these traits. If you take the time to embrace and practice these traits; you will be well on your way to becoming a successful entrepreneur!

Information Overload

The good news; at last, you have achieved your dream. You've escaped the traditional, away from home work force and are now self-employed whether it be part-time or full-time. Now, the bad news; You are now self-employed. It is both good news and bad news. That is, if you are not prepared to deal with the information overload. There you sit, in your spiffy new office - whether it's in the corner of the sitting room or in a converted bedroom surrounded by your equally spiffy new toys...your computer, desk and some strategically placed shelves. Your new multi-function center will print stuff, fax stuff and copy stuff. (It won't hang out the washing, but hey, you can't have everything.)
You've even got work coming-in and the immediate worry about making a living has vanished. Hooray! You really *can* work from home! At first, working at home is pure bliss. Then you get a week when everybody and their dog seems to want your services. After putting in a few late nights, you meet all the deadlines and think; phew...I'm glad that's over! You decide to relax and give yourself a day off. After all, you worked all through the weekend and earned it, right?
Unfortunately, the following week you find yourself off to a bad start trying to make-up for your day off. Before you know it, you find that you are dropping further and further behind. You reflect gloomily that when you were working for someone else, at least at the end of the day you were finished...what didn't get done didn't get done!
Well, it's time to take heart and set a few simple strategies in place that will keep you in control of your time...and your sanity.
=== 1. Do NOT Accept Any New Work This Week. ===
Take a good look at what you have on your plate now, and carefully plan the week ahead. Your aim is to regain control. Tell new clients that you are fully booked, but you can put them on a priority list to be phoned next week. (This will not only allow you to catch up, but make your services appear highly in demand.)
=== 2. Build In Time For Leisure and Rest. ===
Not only for this week, but EVERY week. A half hour walk; a twenty-minute break in the sun with a cup of coffee; a quick swim or a movie outing with friends - all these activities can recharge your batteries. You will find that you can achieve far more when you are rested and alert. (How many times have you sat at the computer staring at the screen, achieving very little, because you're over-tired?)
=== 3. Tackle Urgent Tasks First. ===
If you're behind, your first step must be to contact all clients and arrange firm new deadlines. Make sure you base these new deadlines on what you CAN achieve, not what you HOPE you can achieve. If any existing client needs your services or products urgently, bump them up the queue.
=== 4. Prioritize Remaining Tasks. ===
Scrap anything that is not essential, and delegate what you can. Consider involving family, business associates or friends to handle some tasks. (Warning: do not hand over tasks that must be carried out only by you as the principal of the business. Your reputation is important.)
=== 5. Set Achievable Daily Goals. ===
If you finish a task ahead of schedule, begin the next... but adhere to a definite cut-off time each day. What you are doing this week is establishing a system that will continue to work for you.
Getting out of trouble when your business is in overload is just like getting out of debt. Your business rating is similar to your credit rating - nothing can be gained by denying that a problem exists. Nothing can be gained by slipping deeper into the mire. Call a halt; contact the main players; set workable strategies in place and you can quickly regroup.
Before you know it, your home business dream will be on track once more.

Home Based Business - Illusion? Does it really work?

There are billions of sites registered in search engines for the keyword Home Based Business. Everyday, millions of surfers are searching for home based business on net. I believe that despite a very few percentage, all of them, including the website publishers, have the same question in mind.
I am not an expert or a guru to comment. I do not really know the ways of fast and easy money that some people claims to have already discovered but what I believe in is, if you learn any trade religiously, if you have passion behind your work – your hard work is not going to let you down.
There are lots of ground works to do before you actually start a business. You first need to know if a particular business suits your intelligence. You then should make a project report and survey the market for the particular business. Opinions from experts are always helpful. Do not ever jump into a business as because someone else seems to be making lots of money in it. Most of the home-based entrepreneurs do not follow these guidelines and finally keep asking themselves, “is it an illusion?”
Let me share my experience. It was almost 12 years back when I first started to look for home based business. I was very new to web world and not as smart as a modern day kid. To me, it was like in Hollywood where every other actress looks more beautiful and gorgeous. I could not resist myself and hooked to several programs hoping to start earning the next day. I almost forgot breathing and kept working several hours a day. It did not work because I did not do the basic learning. Hard work alone can’t bring success. You can’t copy other person’s success. You need to innovate ideas to outperform.
The question “does it really works” actually came to my mind too but I never loosen my heart. Leaving aside all the programs, I started from the scratch. I read lots of e-books written by gurus and tried out all the ways I came to know about. Once I discovered what worked, I added my own original ideas and perfected the process.
So, if I have to answer this question today, I would say yes, it works but not for those who are looking for fast and easy money on net. Do learn before you are into it. Do not get impressed by the testimonials and bank statements you would often come across on websites because the business may not be of your kind. To choose a right home based business is the toughest job. If you are looking for free programs, I advise to stay away. If you are unwilling to invest money to start your own home based business, you don’t need a business, you need a job.
If you follow these basic guidelines, if your lady luck keeps smiling on you, there is nothing that can stop you to be a successful home based business entrepreneur.

Running a Business from Home: The Importance of Business Planning

Starting a business without a business plan is suicide. Just as you have to plan your route for a journey, you will have to plan the route for your business as well. Without a planned route as a guide you will not know whether you are heading in the right direction or otherwise. If you thinking of running a business from home, proper planning is the key to starting your journey in the right direction.
A Brief Overview
Included in the business plan should be the nature of the business, its business aims and objectives, an analysis of its viability in a particular location, the company's image, fulfillment of the legal aspects, cash flow projecting the profit and loss projections and the break even analysis.
All the above will have to be discussed in details which will show the course that the company will steer to arrive at its destination.
A Decisive Target
The good business plan will obviously have a specific target to aim at. This target will keep you on track to achieve the developments and success you aim for. It also acts as a guide for you to make adjustments along the way if something is not working well.
Financial Aid
There are also other demands that insist you have a carefully drawn business plan showing how you intend to do the business, where you are heading for and how do you plan to get there. A good business is always required to be presented to lending banks or any other financial institutions that offer to finance the project. Without a good business plan, you request for financial aid will usually be thrown off. At times based on the business type you will be operating, you are qualified for government grants. These granting bodies also will want to look at your business plan. Finally the business owner will feel comfortable investing in a business that has a solid business plan to back it up.
Keeping Track
On the whole, as a sailing ship, a business plan will allow the business to track its actual program against its projected target. Since the business plan is drawn up in advance it is natural that it cannot be 100% accurate since it cannot take into account unexpected changes. That is why it is crucial that the business plan is revisited frequently by the business owner and adjusted if necessary
Steering in the Right Direction
The most common reason why a business plan is needed is to serve as a guide to the entrepreneur on the course of action he is to steer and keep him enlightened on whether his performance on right on track homing in on the projected target or have gone off course and need to be adjusted accordingly.
Government grants
When you are running a business from home, there is however other considerations that need a business plan to be drawn up. Banks will want to examine the business to determine if the project is viable before they commit to financing a loan program for the company. In some cases the company may qualify for government grants. Under the circumstance the granting body will need to see the company's plan to determine if the company is qualified to receive the award of the grant. The plan will also make the business owner feel more comfortable with his investments that he has made the right decision.
Every business owner should make sure that he spend some time writing a business plan and use it as a map to guide him and his business towards his goals.

The Birth of a Successful Internet Business: Part One of Ten -- Soul-Searching
Developing a successful Internet business is the ultimate goal of the Internet entrepreneur. However, statistics show that most Internet businesses never make any real money.
Making money on the Internet isn't easy -- it takes a great deal of time and effort and requires a total commitment. You must be completely passionate about your business and have a sincere desire to succeed. Anything less will be a complete waste of your time and will most likely result in failure.
You must also realize that success isn't going to happen overnight. There will be many obstacles along the way and a great deal to be learned. However, anything worth having is worth working towards and won't come easy. There will be many long days and sleepless nights. However, if everything falls into place, and you plan each step very carefully, the end will justify the means.
The largest obstacle you will ever encounter is fear -- fear of the unknown -- fear of change -- fear of failing. Fear is the root of failure and prevents dreamers from living their true passion. They fail to try.
Above all else, you must take the first step to overcome your fears. With each step you take, you will become a little closer to achieving your dreams. As long as you keep trying, you'll never fail.
There are many common characteristics shared by successful Internet entrepreneurs. Below are some of the most important:
Set Your Goals
Set your goals and write them down on a piece of paper. Set short-term reachable goals and long-term higher goals. However, don't set them too high, as this will cause you to become discouraged if you don't achieve them.
Work consistently towards accomplishing your goals each day, each week and each month until you reach your short-term goals. When you have attained your short-term goals, set them a little higher each time. Ultimately you will achieve your long-term goals.
Self-Disciplined
Get up early each day just as if you were working outside your home. You have to take your business very seriously and be completely self-disciplined.
Self-Motivated
Set up a daily schedule and stick to it. Your own personal drive will have a great impact on your success. You must have the ability to work independently and stay on task.
Positive Attitude
Your attitude is one of the most important factors that will determine your success. Your attitude will either guarantee your success or guarantee your failure. If you have a positive attitude and believe in yourself above all else, you will succeed.
Organizational Skills
Create a list of all the things you want to accomplish during the day. This will give you an organized approach to each day.
Attention to Detail
Whatever you're doing, do it to the best of your ability. Pay close attention to detail. Nothing is ever going to be perfect, as you're only human. However, if something is worth doing, it's worth doing right.
Developing your own Internet business is one of the most difficult, yet rewarding experiences of a lifetime. It is a continuous learning experience and will be filled with many valuable lessons you will carry with you for the rest of your life -- some good, some bad, but lessons still the same.
Although there aren't any shortcuts to achieving your dreams, there is something you can do to speed up the process -- Don't try to reinvent the wheel. Follow in the footsteps of successful Internet entrepreneurs who are already successful. Not only will you save yourself a lot of time and money, but you'll also have a road map to success.
