How To Run Your Business From Home

Working from home is everyones dream, after all who would not want to forego the daily commute during rush hours and instead run a business from home? Here are some ideas how to go about it without also running up your credit cards, running out of patience or simply spinning your wheels.

Running a business from home takes time and dedication. You need to have the time to work on whatever it is you choose to do without interruption. You need to have the dedication to the business to set business hours. If you have children in the home, this may require some finagling but with a bit of finesse, you should be able to come up with a workable plan and schedule. Try to set your time for doing business when the children are at school or at a play date. Dont try to squeeze in a little business before dinner or while the kids are brushing their teeth. Business time belongs to the business and family time belongs to your kids. The two should not mix.
Find a home business which will interest you and which will fit into your life style. For example, if your passions are dogs, find something you can do that involves your canine friends. Marketing bird seed will not satisfy half as much as selling dog food. Do not compromise your interests!

Market your business from home by building a professional looking website, amending your email signature to point people to your new endeavor and by coming up with creative new ways of showing folks in your neighborhood what you are doing.
Get your family involved into your new passion by assigning your children little tasks and perhaps getting your spouse to help out as well.

Networking with other businesses in your area is a great idea to really become successful in your own business. For example, if you are selling a certain brand of dog food, let the local pet groomer know what you are doing and maybe she would refer clients to you if you offered them a discount on the product and also promised to refer your clients to the groomers.

As you can quite easily see, running a business from home can be a lot of fun and it can become a goldmine if you go about it the right way. If it is just another thing that you try to fit into an already packed schedule, the odds are unfortunately against you. So go ahead and invest your time, energy and a reasonable amount of start up capital into a venture that you love and that you foresee loving for a long time and the money will soon follow.

I Need A Holiday: But How Can I?

What is a Holiday: vacation: leisure time away from work devoted to rest or pleasure; "we get two weeks of vacation every summer"; "we took a short holiday in Panama" a day on which work is suspended by law or custom; "no mail is delivered on federal holidays"; "it's a good thing that New Year's was a holiday.

"A good holiday is one spent among people whose notions of time are vaguer than yours." John B. Priestly

When you've been working long and hard at your home business for a while, you might feel like you've earned yourself a little break. There are home business owners out there who haven't taken a real holiday since they started their business -- including some who started their business as long as five years ago!

After all, how can you ever just desert your business and your customers and go bronze yourself on the beach? How can you avoid being on call 24/7 throughout your holiday? Well, everyone deserves some time to themselves at least once a year, if they want to keep being productive and avoid stress. Here's what to do.

A quick and simple way to let people know that you've gone away is to change your answerphone message. This allows you to still hear what people have to say when you get back, and stops them from wondering why you never seem to answer your phone.

A good format for the message is as follows: 'Hi, this is [your name] at [company name]. I'm sorry I'm not in the office right now, but I will be back on [give a date]. If you leave a message, I will be sure to get back to you'.

Of course, when you go on holiday, you're relying on people being willing to wait for you. That means you can't really take the kids to Disneyworld for two weeks, or spend a month staying with a friend abroad -- it's just too long to be away from your business for.

Similar to an answerphone message, but less commonly used, is the email autoresponder. Again, you don't want people to wonder why their emails are going unanswered, so your best bet is to set up your email program to automatically reply to any email you get with a message saying that you've gone away.

You should regard a weekend away as ideal (it avoids the whole problem for the most part), and a week as the maximum you can allow yourself. Don't let people make you feel bad about only taking one-week holidays: after all, you could always have more than one each year.

Of Course this famous quote from Amanda Bradley is still the best:"Celebrate the happiness that friends are always giving, make every day a holiday and celebrate just living!" **********************************************************************************

Using RSS Data To Make More Money

You may have heard the term RSS, however didn't know exactly what it was or how to use it. Now you will learn how to use this technology to keep your websites "fresh."

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site

Summary. It also has been referred to as a "pull" technology rather than a "push" technology. And, in fact, this feature is what makes RSS so popular in terms of today's Internet usage.

It's probably hard to argue that anyone who uses the Internet today hasn't heard of spam. If they have an email inbox it is probably full of it.

Spam, for the uninitiated, is the receipt of unwanted emails from people whom you did not request to receive information. Spam represents the "push" technology. That is, people "push" their email message at your inbox, whether you have asked to receive the email or not.

And that aspect of "push" technology is what many have come to believe is the death of email. It's arguable that email will still be around for quite a long time, even though there are still people who continue the illegal spam process. In fact, companies are making millions now just providing everyday users as well as huge corporations, solutions claiming to solve their spam problem.

RSS, on the other hand, can be said to be the exact opposite of the email "push" technology. Because you cannot "push" your message to subscribers. In fact, the only way that people can subscribe to an RSS feed is to do so voluntarily. And, at the same time, they can unsubscribe whenever they want.

That's why it's called a "pull" technology. Because subscribers "pull" information into their readers and, if the content isn't what they expect, they can unsubscribe whenever they'd like. So, unlike the email "push" technology, there is no one using RSS that is experiencing an inbox full of spam. All they have to do is to unsubscribe and they will never receive another message from the person who provided the feed.

RSS has become a popular way to make money on line too. And that is due in part to the popularity of the RSS "pull" technology. Here's one way of monetizing a website using RSS feeds.

Imagine setting up a static one page web site - a minisite if you will. Now, add either Google Adsense code or the new Yahoo version of the Google Adsense style ads that, when clicked by a visitor - you earn cash.

This gives you a nice starting point and, if you optimize your web page properly, there is a good chance you will get a high ranking in the search engines. And, the more people who see your page, the more likelihood they will click on one of the links on your web page and you'll earn revenue from the click.

But RSS provides an even greater potential. Because by adding an RSS feed to that same web page, you turn a static web page that only contains the information you placed on it, into a dynamic ever changing web page that others will likely come back more than once to read.

After all, once someone has read a one page web site, what incentive is there for them to come back? Plenty, if you use RSS feeds on your web page. It is possible to add 5, 10 or 15 feeds on your once static web page and now, you've got a page that automatically updates itself and provides something that people will want to come back to read time and time again.

You can easily convert any web page into a dynamic web page using free RSS creator software. One of the most popular free versions is called Carp and you can download it at this web link: http://www.geckotribe.com/rss/carp/.

Once you've set this program up on your website and added the proper code to your website, then you will need to collect RSS feeds that relate to the topic of your web page.

Let's say that the topic of your web page is flower gardens. You could go to Google News and get their RSS feed code, place it into the appropriate position in your Carp coding you put on your web page and then adjust the code as follows:

http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&q=flower+gardens&ie=UTF-8&output=rss

You can also get a similar feed from Topix.net and you'd adjust the code like this:

http://rss.topix.net/search/?q=flower+gardens&xml=1

Now, once you have uploaded your web page, your site will automatically pull in fresh information from Google and Topix about flower gardens. Simply follow this illustration for any web page you'd like to monetize and watch your search engine ranking soar and also your bank account!

Get The Fundamentals Right

To succeed in business on the Internet, or in the off-line world, requires an understanding of the fundamentals of business and using them to your advantage. In this article, I will outline what I consider the fundamentals of business success are.

Believe in Your Product or Service

First, you need to believe in your product or service. If you don't believe in it, you will have a great deal of difficulty selling your product or service to other people. You also need to have confidence in your ability to provide and promote your product or service. An old saying sums this up best by stating: "All things are possible to he who believes".

Aptitude for the Business

Secondly, you need to have an aptitude for the business. You will also need the motivation to acquire at the very least basic skills and experience before you start your business. If you were to set yourself up as a web designer but did not have any skills or training in this area, then you will almost certainly fail. However, if you are employed as a bookkeeper and you enjoy the job, then setting up your own bookkeeping service would be a sensible choice with a greater chance of success.

Be Responsible

Thirdly, you need to be responsible to your customers. This is achieved by only making commitments you can keep and by not engaging in misleading or dishonest advertising. If you want to build long-term success in your business, then you need to develop long-term satisfied customers. When their needs are being satisfied, customers are at their happiest.

Aim for High Quality

The next principle is that you need to have a high quality product or service. This will be your best advertisement. Inferior quality products usually generate poor customer satisfaction. A dissatisfied customer can be very dangerous for your business. Usually they tell on average about fourteen other people who will then be disinclined to buy your product or service based on the experience of that one dissatisfied person. Therefore, always aim for a top quality product or service.

Make a Profit

However, it is not enough to have a top quality product or service. You also need to have a product or service that will generate enough income to cover all your business expenses and give you a satisfactory wage. A friend of mine once said that business is only about two things: satisfying customers and making a profit. A simple statement but very true.

Sufficient Start-up Capital

You also need to have access to enough cash to set up and run your business, and enough income to meet your private expenses during the start-up phase. A major problem with many home and small businesses is that they fail to have enough money available to ensure their success. There is nothing more discouraging than having a great idea, getting it started on a shoestring, not being able to expand due to cash shortages and seeing a competitor come along and steal your market.

Start Small

Another fundamental principle of home business success is that you start small. This will enable you to minimize your overheads until you are confident of your success in the marketplace. For many of you, this would mean starting part-time while retaining your full-time income source. When you can, expand your business into a full-time venture. This is a great way of minimizing the risk of failure.

Be Well Organized

Successful businesses are well organized. They have a system for keeping track of expenditure and earnings. This level of organization in your business will help to ensure that you are providing your customers or clients with a top quality product or service. It will also ensure that you have enough information available to maximize your profitability and to satisfy your legal requirements for record keeping.

Be Prepared

Preparation is another key ingredient in your business success. This preparation will include being aware of the regulations and laws affecting small and home business. Armed with this knowledge, you should not have any nasty surprises from unintentional violations of the law.

Have a Business Plan

Finally, successful businesses have developed a comprehensive business plan. This is their road map to success. It tells them where they are going and how they are going to get there. There are a number of good resources about business planning on the Internet. Here are some:

http://www.bplans.com
http://www.businesstown.com/planning/creating.asp
http://www.bizplanit.com/

Conclusion

It has been said that genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration. The same can be said about business success. Without having the fundamentals in place, a great business idea will usually fail. Set yourself up for success by considering each of the points raised in this article.

Is It Possible To Earn A Fulltime Income Online?

Most of us have seen numerous adverts promoting programs that will earn us yachts and mansions for only a few dollars investment. Too good to be true? Unfortunately yes. Most of the time you will waste time and money with these programs. So is there a way to make a full time income from only working online a few hours per day?

The short answer is yes but you need to put in a lot more time than a few hours per day to start with. Over the past 8 months I have worked up to 6 hours per day building an income to eventually replace the one in my job. It takes dedication and focus and slowly but surely your income will grow to the point that you can cut back your hours and get some quality time with your family.

The first thing you need to do is to sit down and have a long hard think about what you want from life. I would bet that most of you will at first think about the fast cars and mansions and the celebrity lifestyles that are depicted in many aspirational adverts. However think harder, these are things you would like to have not what you want from life. If after you’ve thought deeply you decide that you want to see your family grow up, you want to be able to make it to your children’s school concert and not have to work late on that important project. If you decide that you want to be able to take your wife for a romantic lunch before you collect the kids from school then you have the correct frame of mind to start making an income for yourself. If you don’t have a family and you decide you want to be self reliant and not a wage slave then you are on the way. Be realistic and you won’t be disappointed.

Now you know what you want and you know it’s realistic it’s time to get yourself a strategy. I like to think of my income building strategy in terms of building a house, before you put up the walls and roof, the part of the house you can see and admire you need to put in the foundations. The foundation of your income has to be a steady source of reliable income that you can build on. For this I built a number of content websites and monetized them by adding Adverts and Adsense feeds. I write articles and submit them to directories. I do everything I can to get the sites into the search engines and get traffic to them. Once the visitors started coming and I was getting a steady income then it’s time to branch out and work on the 4 walls of our strategy.

The second part of the strategy involves taking some profit from the site building and investing it in well researched programs that have a long history of paying out. You need to do your research and due diligence here and spread the risk among a number of programs if you have any doubts about a program walk away. Now you have your foundation and 4 walls in place it’s time to top it all off with the roof.

The Roof like in your house is the top level of our strategy, this is where you take everything you have learned building your foundations and walls and apply it to your own programs, by now you will know what works, you will have developed a network of contacts through programs and forums and you are ready to develop your own programs.

The great thing about this strategy is that if you have no spare cash you can start out with very little, in fact it is possible to start out with $0.00 and turn this into a full-time income by clever use of resources. If you don’t believe that this is possible then have a look at the blog detailed in the resource box at the end of this article and watch start with $0.00 and prove there is such a thing as a free lunch.

Remember be focused and realistic and a full time income is within your grasp.

The Advantages of Working At Home

For a large number of people, working at home is the penultimate dream. After all, most of dislike our job; and possibly even are not happy with the amounts of money we are paid for doing those jobs even less. Some of us also have problems dealing with our superiors or even co-workers, who may or may not be good people. Given all these factors, working at home, in the peace and comfort or our own residence, seems like an extremely good idea.

First what must be taken into considerations are all the variables that will be involved in your potential decision if you are thinking of working from home. Just like working outside of your home, working at home carries its own set of advantages and disadvantages. It would be smart to examine closely each argument and examine how much weight such arguments should have on your decision.

Some of the advantages of working at home include:

Being your own boss
: Majority of people resent having to work for the benefit of someone else. We are all naturally selfish; we want our work efforts to primarily be for our benefits. Being the employee, the efforts you put forth mainly benefit the company that you are working for and your boss. You will receive a salary. The wages you will receive do not really compare to the full value of the effort you had put forth along with the quality and services that you rendered.

Being in charge of your own time: You will have flexible and varying working hours. It is frustrating to have your time subject to the caprices of others. How many times have you missed family sports events or other special occasions? Now your schedule allows for the flexibility so you can be there. You will be in control of your time when you work from home. You will be able to do what you want and when you want.

Solitude: You get to work alone. There are no other people around who can distract you from what you are doing. You will be able to work without the disturbance from co-workers that so happens in the work place.

Possibility of large gains: As stated before, when you work for a salary, you only receive a portion of the value of your service you put forth. But if you own your own venture and are working at home, you not only reap the fruits of your own labor, you have the chance of receiving fruits from another’s labor, such as if you have your own employees. You alone will be accountable for your business to succeed. The effort you put forth, along with the quality of the products and services that you provide will be the main determining factors that contribute to your home business success. If you want to make more money, you simply do more work, sell more products or adjust your business to become more profitable through some factor. If your business takes off, than you have the opportunity to earn more money in a year that you otherwise would have received throughout your entire lifetime had you stayed with your regular job.

Being able to choose your associations
: Not being stuck in the same work place means you will not have to put up with people that you can not stand. Instead you can choose the clients that you are working for and ignore the ones that are not as relevant.

Work place in your own home
: No more commuting to your job. You will be able to get up when you want, shower and dress how you like. You will be able to conduct your work anywhere you like whether it is at the kitchen table, outside on your patio, in your living room or even on a tropical island. You also will have no need to go out for lunch. This saves time and money. There will be no more brown bag lunches.

Now working at home is not a financial cure-all, In fact, you can expect to have a hard time, especially at the start. However, as long as you stay focused and do the work that you have to do, you can expect your venture to grow. Your profits will grow as well.

On the road to working from home

When you take your first tentative steps into the world of online home business you’ll soon find yourself inundated with a veritable smörgåsbord of options, and this is where some of the problems start. You may soon find yourself joining countless programs, to the point that you can’t remember who offered what, and receiving an inbox full of emails promising you the chance to earn even more money if you subscribe to yet more programs.

It won’t be long before you’ve either spent way too much money on programs that have promised you the world but failed to deliver, or you’ll be so confused that you won’t know which way to turn and wondering just why you wanted to set up your work from home business in the first place.

The problem is that so many people rush into things after reading that they’ll earn millions of dollars within a month that they forget the old adage that slow and steady wins the race.

To truly start earning an income from your home based business you need to be prepared to put in a little effort: take the time to look into the different methods available, be it affiliate marketing, niche sites, using ebay, answering surveys or a myriad of other examples; once you’ve decided on which avenue you’re going to take, look around and see what’s available, there are some helpful sites that will guide you through the process. Always make sure you read up on all aspects of your chosen program: some may have certain requirements you are not prepared to meet, expect you to pay after a trial period or limit your other opportunities in some way.

Of course once you’ve chosen your avenue it can then become a matter of trial and error, the affiliate plan that works for some may not be right for you. Do a little testing: advertise your plan using traffic exchanges, safe lists etc. Make sure you set up all the tools you’ll need to promote and respond to any inquiries. Try not to get swayed by all the offers out there, give yourself a little bit of time to get your business on track before scattering yourself too thin and joining too many programs.

Eventually you’ll hit on the perfect work from home business and while it may not happen overnight you’ll soon start seeing your efforts being rewarded and you’ll start wondering why you didn’t start working from home earlier.

The Home Business Journey: The Preparation

You might now be tossing the idea of establishing your own business. You might be imagining freedom, and if you have a 9-5 job you might be saying to yourself that this kind of job was never meant for you. If you are a student you might be saying to yourself that you will never put yourself under somebody else's authority and generate profit for somebody else.

If you are serious then you should prepare yourself for the journey. When you are going for a journey you start listing the things you will need.

To have your own business then you must really be prepared. The first thing you need to know is to prepare yourself. Yes, you must prepare your mind as the journey will not be full of roses. The garden of Eden is your destination along your path.

Because of the huge obstacles that may be extremely difficult to overcome at this point in time in your life, you know that you will not have access to resources that will enable you to open a Franchise or your own offline operation. At this point your mind might be set at venturing into an online business because of the limited amount of investment needed for such a business.

The first thing that you need to prepare right from the beginning is your expectations. A home business is still a business and all the rules of business apply. Why I am saying this?

Most of the people who start searching for a home business get so excited when they read and hear about all the different opportunities available online. They forget that they have started the search for a business and they start expecting to get rich within few months. If that was true then you would have found all those big corporations are empty and out of employees.

This fact should not disappoint you, on the contrary this means that you will be among the very few who understand the real nature of home business and it will enable you to continue the journey while finding others returning after a couple of hundred yards and sticking to their jobs.

If you know this fact, then you will be able to mentor the people that you will eventually sponsor according to this fact. You will have an organization full of people who know the real nature of home business. This organization will have solid foundations and will be able to grow much better than most of the organizations in this field.

The second thing that you need to prepare yourself for is that you will have bad days or even bad months. This should not mean that the business is not working. Your home business is an online business, and one of the major differences between online and offline businesses is the location.

In an offline business you might be the only one who is providing this business in the neighborhood. In Online Business the internet is the neighborhood.

In an offline business you might choose a location with high traffic with many by passers who would be able to locate you easily. In an Online business you can only choose a product or service of high demand, but to create traffic is your own job. Accidental traffic is never something that you can depend on in online business.

Therefore, the momentum of traffic has to be built one brick at a time, and this needs consistency, time and patience especially when we do not have enough funds to overspend on advertising.

You need to think about those two things a lot, and you need to prepare your mind before you start your home business journey. The first is to Prepare and control your expectations. The second is to survive the bad times with consistency and patience.. These two gold nuggets will be the ones that will help you to survive this thing called the Internet.

This way you are prepared to start your home business journey with the right mindset.

Home Based Business - Illusion? Does it really work?

There are billions of sites registered in search engines for the keyword Home Based Business. Everyday, millions of surfers are searching for home based business on net. I believe that despite a very few percentage, all of them, including the website publishers, have the same question in mind.

I am not an expert or a guru to comment. I do not really know the ways of fast and easy money that some people claims to have already discovered but what I believe in is, if you learn any trade religiously, if you have passion behind your work – your hard work is not going to let you down.

There are lots of ground works to do before you actually start a business. You first need to know if a particular business suits your intelligence. You then should make a project report and survey the market for the particular business. Opinions from experts are always helpful. Do not ever jump into a business as because someone else seems to be making lots of money in it. Most of the home-based entrepreneurs do not follow these guidelines and finally keep asking themselves, “is it an illusion?”

Let me share my experience. It was almost 12 years back when I first started to look for home based business. I was very new to web world and not as smart as a modern day kid. To me, it was like in Hollywood where every other actress looks more beautiful and gorgeous. I could not resist myself and hooked to several programs hoping to start earning the next day. I almost forgot breathing and kept working several hours a day. It did not work because I did not do the basic learning. Hard work alone can’t bring success. You can’t copy other person’s success. You need to innovate ideas to outperform.

The question “does it really works” actually came to my mind too but I never loosen my heart. Leaving aside all the programs, I started from the scratch. I read lots of e-books written by gurus and tried out all the ways I came to know about. Once I discovered what worked, I added my own original ideas and perfected the process.

So, if I have to answer this question today, I would say yes, it works but not for those who are looking for fast and easy money on net. Do learn before you are into it. Do not get impressed by the testimonials and bank statements you would often come across on websites because the business may not be of your kind. To choose a right home based business is the toughest job. If you are looking for free programs, I advise to stay away. If you are unwilling to invest money to start your own home based business, you don’t need a business, you need a job.

If you follow these basic guidelines, if your lady luck keeps smiling on you, there is nothing that can stop you to be a successful home based business entrepreneur.

Running a Business from Home: How to be a Successful Entrepreneur

If you are thinking of running a business from home, there are a few basic tips you should know. This essential knowledge holds the key whether you will be successful in your venture or not. Let's start by looking at ways to start planning for your business.

Wasting precious time in small details

When setting up a new company, do not get bogged down in detail when preparing the ground for setting it up. The important thing is to set up the business in as simple form as possible and keep improving as you go, making adjustment and changes according to the dictates of the moment. As you go on you will find that there is actually not much to accommodate and if you have spent too mush time in your preparation, you will find it only time not well spent. When you are running a business from home this is a very important factor.

Partnership woes

Starting a business on a partnership basis is a mistake because the company can break up easily at any time even due to the slightest hitch. A multitude of problems will crop up from time to time which results in disagreements leading to a split.

Ask your worth

Entrepreneurs should ask for what they are worth and get it. It is a folly to enter a market and wanting to be cheaper than competitors. Entrepreneurs must find ways to get what they are worth by adding value. Start-ups have a particular advantage on this because since they have not started something they can embark on anything. They have the advantage of studying what works and what doesn't work for their competitors.

Payments

Late payments are one of the bugbears of small business owner. Whatever it is, do not forget that you are not a bank and don't behave like one. There is nothing wrong about asking for money before a product or service is provided. Useful method is offering a discount if payment is received up front. Set a dateline for special discounts to be effective.

Frugal

Overspending is a vital erroneous practice of many small businesses running a business from home. When buying office furniture, go for the second hand ones. That will save money which can be used to replenish money capital investment and cut down loss should the business fail. Two companies in the same building can share a photo copier.

Form filling

Don't use your prime time bogged up in form filling because that can be done during the part of the day that are not productive. At other times concentrate on selling because that is the business you are in ---- selling and making money and not practicing filling forms.

Feedback

Never ignore positive feedback. Helpful feed back is free but they can help remedy your weaknesses. Feedback usually comes from distributors of your products who are in close contact with consumers. They know what makes the customers happy or otherwise with the company's products or services. Use these feedbacks to your advantage by making the necessary adjustments to your operations.

One example of ignoring feedback was made by a new company with great potential to capture the market both locally and abroad. Customers clamored for the company's products but suddenly sales drop a lot. The company received feedback from distributors that the quality of the product has dropped. Instead of listening to the feedback and improving quality, the company's CEO ignored the feedback and boast of the company's million- dollars status that would not get the company out of business. He brushed the feedback as insignificant. What happened told the whole story. The company went out of business and the arrogant CEO is now hunting for a new job.

Growing too fast

Growing too big too fast is also not advantageous when you are running a business from home unless you can handle the expansion meticulously. Don't grow into a business empire that will give you a headache.

Advertising

To be a successful entrepreneur running a business from home, be careful in your advertising. Identify your customer and advertise accordingly. Never simply spend a lot of money advertising and then pray for the results. Do some research before you go on an advertising campaign. You will hit the bull's eye.

Finally remember that you never knew who knows who. If you offer a great deal to one customer before long others will know including those that bought the product or service at a higher price. If you are spreading positive news, it is good to let things slip. People like talking about other people. You can take advantage of the mouth-to-mouth gossiping patterns to inform others about the uniqueness and exclusivity of your business operations. If you follow these steps meticulously, you will be a successful entrepreneur running a business from home.
