Can I Really Be a Network Marketer?
When I first got into business online, I didn't really know what it meant to be a network marketer or be involved in multi-level marketing (MLM). I wanted to sell a product and a service that would eventually generate a good residual income for me. It is becoming clearer to me now as I get into network marketing that it does take a certain kind of person with certain skills to excel in this business, but if you've got the desire, passion, energy, and commitment to be successful at it, then anyone can do it!
Network marketing, or multi-level marketing is about people. It's about building a team - a downline - and teaching them to be successful like you. Yes, there are different levels in the organization you build, but that's not to say that all network marketing endeavors are pyramid schemes. As long as there is something of value being offered in the program and it's not a program designed to pay only those higher up in the pyramid, then you are pretty safe.
Once you are into a network marketing program, you have to work on yourself and your own success before you can hope to achieve success with others you recruit. The problem is that many people are attracted to the big money aspect of it, and hope to make it big with little effort on their own part. Once you're in, you have to make a commitment to yourself and your program, no matter what big hitters are above you, and you have to work it like any other business. This will take time, and you have to be willing to invest that time, and believe that in time you will see the results you seek.
Believing is huge in this industry because you start with a dream. There is a reason you got involved in network marketing, and one of the big reasons might be that you want to be a millionaire. The trick is to believe and feel that you already are, even if you're far from it. This kind of positive attitude must be maintained, even though everyone will go through good times and bad in their businesses. If you love what you do, you will be able to maintain a healthy attitude and the discipline needed to propel you to greatness.
Most people think that network marketing is about making sales when really it is about relationships with your prospects, your customers, and your team. The best way to be confident about relationship building and team-building is to educate yourself and develop the skills you need to succeed. A lot of it has to do with conquering your fears about talking to new prospects by analyzing what the fear really is and developing the skills you need through practice and repetition. Part of relationship building is also to be a leader to your team and knowing how to handle objections to your offers, or excuses for not joining. Being prepared with a list of questions for your prospects will help you deal effectively with their issues.
Network marketing can be a business for those who are willing to work at it. Money won't grow on trees, so if you want to be successful at it, then take the time to learn, grow, energize yourself, love yourself and what you do, and carry yourself and your team to the top!

Strategies You Can Apply to Your Business
If you have a service business, sell information, or want to boost your subscription rates, here are some fantastic strategies you can start using right away.
"Help people, don't sell people":
Realize that visitors are looking for information and are not necessarily ready to buy right away, focus on creating credibility and offering tons of value, through free courses, e-mail newsletters, and other "sticky" features, like discussion boards and regular chat sessions. By offering this wealth of free information, you earn the trust of subscribers and makes them feel comfortable buying from you.
Keep in touch with your visitors:
Sending out free courses as daily e-mails over the space of a week or more is a great way of keeping in touch with your visitors and building a relationship. If you have any information that lends itself to a daily or weekly "lesson," experiment with offering it to your existing subscribers and new visitors. By using this technique, you can turn your subscibers into paying customers!
Capture more information by offering more value:
Collect names and e-mails for your general newsletter, and then much more detailed demographic information from those subscribers who request a specific product. This is a smart approach, since a one-step form asking tons of questions would likely scare away most visitors, leaving you empty-handed. By offering extra value, you can also ask for extra information.
Armed with these details, you can create new products that fit their needs.
Track everything that moves:
If a specific key word or web site is underperforming, pull it right away (or tweak it to boost value). By not relying on instinct alone, you'll make the most of every penny.
Automate everything!
Automate nearly every aspect of your business using various third-party services. It is a very inexpensive way to incorporate some extremely powerful tools. You could double your sales with very little change in overhead.

Top 7 Home Business Time Wasters!
What I call "Time Wasters" is any action interfering with running your home based business.
What Are The 7 Most Common Time Wasters?
Check Out The Following!
1. Email. Email is without a doubt a very important factor in operating your Online business. After you've mastered sending and receiving email, there's no limit to the people or organizations you can reach at the press of the send button.
There is a downside to the marvelous convenience of email. Think of all the time the average business person spends checking email accounts. You could easily waste half your work day on email.
To the rescue e-prompter. This free software is easy to use and it will check several email accounts while you surf or work on other business matters. Download e-prompter here... http://www.downloads.com & http://webattack.com
2. Pop Ups. Are you bombarded with pop ups at every turn on the Internet? Pop ups will slow down your surfing and it's down right frustrating trying to get rid of these annoying unwanted ads. As you know, Internet Explorer is not packaged with a good pop up blocker. So you will definitely need to download one if you plan to surf the Internet regularly.
To the rescue Google Toolbar!
The google tool bar has a great and free anti pop up weapon.
Download the Google bar. http://www.google.com
3. Surfing. How often do you plan to check a website resource, and click unrelated links.
Fight mindless surfing!
Remember your goal. Ignore links that detract from your objective. If you are looking for information on the latest "Computer Virus Hoax" why are you visiting music sites or downloading screen savers?
4. Forgetting To Write Down Your Objectives. Open Notepad or write what you plan to do on a sticky note. And check off the goals as you accomplish them. This listing method works great if you overloaded with too many task.
5. Time Limits. Learn To Set a time limit! This will force you to focus on accomplishing your objective within the designated time frame. For example, limit yourself to 30 minutes checking email, or 1 hour researching a topic.
Here's an easy little count down timer that you can download. Download Egg Timer Here:

6. Telephone/Television Distractions. Unplug your telephone. Turn off that television. The telephone is a big time waster. Ignore urges to check your voice mail or answering machine for messages every few minutes. Only return important calls.
No more soaps! That's right! While you are working tape your favorite programs. Watch them after business hours.
7. Family Distractions: Make your home office "Off Limit" during work hours. Tell family members to handle any minor problems while you are at your computer. Close the door to your office. Place a sign on it "Do Not Disturb During Work Hours."

Starting a Home Business Using the Internet
Starting a home business is not an easy task and to make things harder there are so many myths attached to starting a home business that it can become quite confusing. Some people get an idea in their head and just take off. Starting a business for them is easy. The majority of people, however, end up having the desire to start a home business before the actual business idea comes to them. Once they begin thinking about actually starting a home based business they are overcome with many myths that make it seem next to impossible to succeed.
One of the biggest myths about starting a home business is associated with the internet. The internet has opened many doors to home business owners, but at the same time the complexity of the internet has caused many to give up and abandon hope that they can ever get a business to be successful. Many people believe that the internet is a vast marketplace that is too large to compete in. That is simply not true. There are many small home businesses that are doing great on the internet. It is all a matter of knowing how to run a business website. A person has to understand about marketing and setting up a website. Once they've established their online presence they can make great money.
Another internet related myth about starting a home business is that there is no help available for the business owner. Anyone who has gone to a search engine and typed in business will know this is not true. There are online networks of websites that are all aimed at helping people succeed in the internet business. These people offer free information and plenty of support. A person can find answers to almost any question they have and even talk to others who have started their own business. The internet business environment is one of helping others.
One myth that may hold some truth is that marketing online is impossible. While it is, obviously, not impossible it can be difficult for the beginner. Starting a home business online requires plenty of research into internet marketing. The marketing tools used online are very different from those used in the traditional environment. A person has to understand how to drive traffic to their website and how to catch the attention of their target market. As mentioned above, there are plenty of resources available to help a person get their marketing plan in order.
These myths about starting a business all make it look impossible to tap into the internet marketplace. These myths are quite untrue and should be ignored. It does take hard work and dedication to start any business, but using the internet just opens up a business to a huge marketplace and offers additional opportunities that a traditional, offline business does not have. It is worth it for every business owner to look into the internet when starting a home business.

Have You Ever Thought to Yourself "Show me a better life?"
Working at home would definitely make your life better, but can a home based business be the right choice for you? Why not? Considering all the downsizing companies are doing right now, it's probably one of the best decisions you can make. A desire to spend more time with family may be the motivation to start a work at home opportunity. Perhaps your job is a dead end, or your employer continually requires more work with less benefits. A home based businesses is the means of getting out of any of these predicaments. I for one have worked for others all my life, and have decided I want to run a home base business for all the reasons I listed. These and many, many other predicaments are excellent reasons to consider the potential of running your own home based business, and the benefits are outstanding.
Many people try to start a home-based business utilizing the skills they have learned at their previous jobs, such as bookkeeping, web design, sales, etc. These types of home based businesses can be lucrative, but they usually require a lot of work that most people don't have the time while already working a full time job for someone else. They also tend to incur huge start up costs, which most people also don't have. So what are your options?
There are many, many web sites dedicated to helping people find work from home opportunities which require little to no investment to start. In a lot of cases, you will be able to use the skills you learned at previous jobs with a company that is already established that can help you generate income from home. For example, if you have worked in sales for years, you would then want to look into an agreement with an established company that allows you to market their site or sell from home. This type of home based business is easy to start up and will most certainly generate income. But you are still working for someone else!
Online work at home opportunity web sites are undoubtedly a great tool. Look mainly for directories that can point you to several work from home opportunities and ideas. There are several home based income opportunities currently. They can be anything from reviewing goods to writing catalog pieces, to setting up online stores, to doing data entry, to filling out surveys. These opportunities are for everyone that wants to improve their income, or make a living. You decide on how much time and effort you want to invest, and that will determine the income you generate. Be sure to stay away from "get rich quick" schemes. Most all legitimate and profitable work at home opportunities do require work!
There are also sites where you can fill out a survey and they will find the right opportunities that are compatible with your wants and skills. Find the work at home directories, which have many opportunities listed and you will probably find an online work at home opportunity that is just perfect for you and your lifestyle (or the lifestyle you want to have!) Take the time and search out a few of these directory sites and start making notes of which opportunities are right for you.

How to Start a Home Business With a Minimum Budget
One of the biggest complaints people have about choosing a home business is that they don't have the money to spend on one. Their budget is stretched tight - that's why they want to start a business anyhow. They need the money but want to stay at home.
Many home businesses don't cost all that much to get started, however. Pick the right business and you won't have to spend much at all to have a chance to bring in some income.
You can rarely start a home business without any investment at all. Business cards, for example. They don't cost much, but they can be quite helpful in appearing professional to the people you meet. Hosting a website can be done for free, but if you want a domain name and a good host, you're going to have to spend at least a little. But it can be had for under $10/year (1&1 Internet.com).
Perhaps you have a skill you could offer as a service. Running errands for people, website design, tutoring, being a virtual assistant... you may have just about everything you need to run one of these businesses already. All you need are clients.
Affiliate marketing is also quite popular, if quite challenging. Many people start this on free hosts such as Blogger.com, then move on to paid hosting as they earn enough money. Affiliate programs are generally free to join, and you figure out how to get people to buy through your links.
This is not as simple as throwing up some links and hoping. That's one of the most common mistakes. You have to give people a reason to click through and make a purchase. Reviews are a popular way to do this. Keep it honest, mention the negatives as well as the positives, and gain people's trust by providing quality information.
Whatever kind of home business you start, you need to love what you're doing and know that there are other people who love the results of what you do. If no one wants to buy from you, there's no point to being in business.
One of the best things you can do for your home business is to reinvest in it. If you don't need the earnings urgently for something else, find a way to use it to make your home business better. Over time this can help you to earn still more money.
It's not easy starting a home business on a tight budget. But there are many options that cost very little money to get started, yet it is entirely possible to earn money from them. There are no guarantees of success in business; only your own efforts will determine your success in the long run.
