Setting Goals Is Only Half The Battle To Achieving Your Dreams In Your Home Business

We hear it all the time...

You must set goals in order to be successful in your own business. Its the secret of the wealthy. Its the difference between modest success and explosive success, etc.

Do you agree? I'm here to tell you it's only half true...

Setting goals and writing them down is one thing. Anyone can do that and many people do. But most never, ever achieve their goals.

I'll tell you exactly why shortly but first you must know this:

Despite your best efforts, you will never achieve the success you are looking for if you never actually set goals for yourself and your business in the first place. Let's at least agree on that.

Ask yourself, "What goals have I written down for myself and my business?"

Most people never set goals for themselves or their business at all. One day leads to another and the days continue to disappear without success.

How can you get to where you want to go if you don't know where you're going?

The biggest roadblock to goal setting is YOU. Setting goals requires you to actually write down your dreams and put a date of accomplishment on them.

Do not get in the habit of working your business without goals. This leads to apathy and an empty checking account.

Goals are the lifeblood of your business. Written goals that is. Statistics have shown over and over that small businesses fail within the first five years. You do not want to become a statistic; you want to become a success.

So how do you become successful at setting goals?

The first step, obviously, is to write down your intentions or exactly what you want to achieve. What intentions do you have for your life and your business? Write them down. When would you like to achieve them by? Put a date of accomplishment on your goals.

Get a pad of paper and start writing NOW. Be bold and write them all down. Your intentions are now your goals.

Think BIG! You must be clear...

You now have goals with deadlines. Your first step is accomplished but this is only half of the battle. Now comes the tricky part. Gut check time...

Do you feel as though you can achieve your goals? Do you actually believe you can achieve your goals?

Ahhhh, the look I see you giving your computer screen right now could melt ice. "Of course I believe I can achieve my goals" you say. "Why else would I have written them down?"

Well, writing them down is all fine and good but if you don't actually believe deep down that you can achieve your goals, then they are meaningless. And THAT is why most never achieve their goals with their business endeavors.

If you do not believe you can achieve your goals...You won't.

You say you can. You wrote them down. But, if you do not truly feel you can achieve your goals with absolute certainty...You won't. You must be crystal clear. Period.

Tough pill to swallow, I know. So how does one go about doing this?

This is where your mindset comes in to play - the other half of the battle.

Let's take this whole goal setting process just one step further now. Pay close attention here...

In your mind, see the goals you wrote down as already accomplished. What does it look like when it has been completed? You've nailed it. How does it make you feel? How has your life changed?

Go to that place right now (the outcome) and WRITE DOWN that part in addition to the goals you want to achieve. Get into the state of mind as having already achieved the goal instead of always wishing or hoping for it like everyone else does.

Assume the feeling of the outcome. Stay in that state of mind as often as possible. Once you actually feel the outcome you will then, and only then, be able to attract the goals that you wrote down.

This is a fundamental principal that has stood the test of time. DO NOT take it lightly.

So, it's really a two step process, yes?

"What you hold in your mind with energy and focus will tend to be created in your reality."

Read that again.

Remember, success doesn't happen to the uninvolved. Success happens to those who are not only persistent in reaching their goals, but to those who make a decision to reach their goals, get clear on what they want, and already feel themselves victorious in the so called goal setting battle...

A bit deep, I know...But without question, the difference maker.

You should never be without goals. Keep your intentions and your goals before you. Be clear, feel the outcome, and stay focused on the end result.

Take action.

Imagine Your Business Growing

A successful home business is something many people dream about. It's a way to achieve things that generally are not possible when you work for someone else. But they're also quite a bit of work. How do you get past that and bring your business to new heights?

One of the first things you need to do is picture yourself as successful. If you focus on failure it is much easier to give up, and therefore to fail. Believe that your business will succeed(always think positive).

Challenge yourself in this. You don't want your goals to be so easy that you can reach them quickly. Save those for short term goals. For the long term you want goals that you will have to push and struggle to reach. The harder it is to reach them, the better you will feel about it when you get there.

You also need to understand where your business is going and where you want it to go. If you cannot honestly look at where you are at you are likely to get off track.

Your business needs to stand out from others. Your Unique Selling Proposition (USP) is what will make people want to deal with your home business rather than some other company. It doesn't matter how many companies are offering something similar to what you have. What matters is what makes you different and more valuable.

One great tactic is to make it clear that you are an expert in your field. Write articles and submit them to relevant publications. Write an ebook and give it away to potential customers. Participate on forums and answer questions other people ask. The more you do to show that you know what you are talking about, the more people will think of you as an expert in your field.

Know what you can outsource. If you can have someone else handle the basic emails, the bookkeeping, website design - whatever it is that you are not an expert at, your business will run more smoothly and you will have more time to focus on the things you really do know. There is no need to be a Jack of all trades.

You should also automate whenever possible. If you have an email course that will encourage prospects to buy from you, there are many programs that will handle sending that out to new subscribers for you. Similarly, you do not want to have to process credit card orders yourself. Amazingly enough, some sites do just have you send in your information, then they process the order, rather than having their payment processor handle it all automatically. Simplify your life and let the computers do their jobs.

Finally, make sure you have more than one thing to sell. You may only have created one thing that you want to sell, but with affiliate marketing you can have a wonderful backend product to offer without any extra work to create it yourself. Once someone has bought from you once, you have a great shot of getting them to buy from you again. Why not take advantage of that?

Growing your business can take a very long time. Few people manage to be overnight successes. But if you are determined you can do very well for yourself and your home business.

Top 9 Reasons to Work at Home

Working at home has been getting easier these past several years. With the Internet opening up new home business opportunities as well as more jobs that can be done from home, the possibilities are quite simply amazing.

Depending on what you want to do, it can be easy or difficult to get started. If you have a job with a company that allows telecommuting already, it can be easy. Starting a business or finding a work at home job... easy or hard, depending on your skills, what you want to do, and just a touch of luck sometimes.

Not all reasons will apply to everyone. They can depend on what you do and how your family works. But you can generally get at least a partial benefit from any of these.

But there are some great reasons to work at home.

1. Saving on gas.

This is a really minor reason in many ways, but as gas prices go up people have been more and more interested in this idea. Even telecommuting one day a week can save you on gas costs.

2. No commute.

Or if you do have to drive to work or to clients sometimes, you may be able to avoid rush hour traffic. This saves frustration and time.

3. A more flexible schedule.

Not always true, but often enough. Depending on what you do, you might be working standard business hours, late nights, early mornings, or whatever time is best for you to work at. You are more likely to be able to be there if you have a child who needs you and run errands when it suits you.

4. No boss staring over your shoulder.

If you have a work at home job rather than a home business, you will still have a boss and have to meet your goals, but you don't have to deal with one all day. But this can be a negative if you need feedback.

5. More time with your family (?)

Once again, a huge advantage, but not true for all people working from home. Many will still need childcare so that they can get their work done. However, if you're keeping regular hours, you at least can lose the commute time and cut back on the rush in the mornings and evenings.

6. Simpler wardrobe.

Working at home means you don't have to spend so much on keeping your wardrobe current and you don't need so many "Dry Clean Only" outfits. Each of these can save you quite a bit of money.

7. The ability to follow your dreams.

More for people running a home business than working a job. Running a business is a dream for many people, one which allows them to make money from something they truly love doing. Working is more fun when you really, really love what you do.

8. Saving on lunch.

You won't need to eat out so often. Your refrigerator is right there, and if you plan ahead each evening, leftovers can make a quick and easy lunch. Your sodas and coffee also aren't marked up so much if you're buying your usual from the grocery store.

9. You can set up your office the way you want it.

No worries about corporate rules on how your desk has to be set up. Whatever decor makes you happy, you can have. Same for music, if you don't need absolute quiet when you're on the phone.

Are Your Network Marketing Efforts Taking You in the Right Direction?

There are some basic things just about everyone getting into network marketing or direct sales is told to do. Work your warm market. Talk about your opportunity every chance you get.

Too bad those really aren't effective for a lot of people. You're far more likely to really annoy your family and friends and get very few signups that way. With all the companies out there, all the possibilities available to any person you might talk to, it can be very hard to sell people on why they should join your opportunity.

Don't forget how hard it is to actually get people working their business when you get them signed up. I can tell you from personal experience that even when you are successful and want to help family members get going, most of those who express interest still won't go anywhere with whatever you give them. Many people just don't have the drive.

So what do you do?

You want to find people who want to do what you do. You want them to come to you.

And that means you need to stop lying to them. You want them to expect to work. No more telling prospects that the product sells itself. You know full well it doesn't. You probably even know that just talking to people about how much you love the products you sell is a form of selling, even if you insist that no selling is involved in your opportunity.

No matter what you were told by your upline, you know that success does not come easily. Success comes after hard work. If it were easy, everyone would do it and there would be no money in it.

One of the major keys is to have a good system in place to help your prospects along. Some companies make it incredibly difficult to market your opportunity online, but if you can do it the possibilities are just about endless. All you need is something to offer people who are interested in your business and a genuine desire to help them out.

The wonderful thing about this is that once you have a system in place, you can attract solid prospects to you, rather than buying leads and wasting money. If people see you as a valuable resource, one willing to help them succeed, they will come to you and their success will fuel your own.

Honesty really is the best policy, especially in business. If you can attract people to your business by telling them what they really need to know in order to succeed you will gain their respect and trust. With that you have a better chance at building a business relationship that will benefit the both of you.

The Slight Edge Philosophy...

The slight edge philosophy is the idea of performing either simple disciplines or simple errors in judgment that will either build or destroy your business. The simple disciplines are what you want to get accustom to. I promise you that if you follow simple disciplines you will be able to double, triple, or even quadruple your income within the next twelve months.

It is not difficult at all to build a massively successful MLM business if you follow the simple disciplines, such as, making your phone calls every day, following up with people consistently, going to all the business briefings, even if you have seen them a hundred times, doing your 15 minutes of personal development a day, or doing your exposures every day. You already know what you have to do to be successful in the business; you just have to do it.

It's easy to do all the things that I've just mentioned. All you have to do to make an exposure is go up to someone and tell him or her about what you're doing.

Is it really that difficult to open your mouth? It's easy, but it's also easy not to do, and that is the trap that so many people fall into when they are in this business. They fall into the trap of performing simple errors in judgment, rather than performing the simple daily disciplines that are going to create them a more preferable compounded effect.

I mean, think about it. Let's take smoking for example. You smoke a cigarette today; It's just one cigarette, right? Correct! That one cigarette isn't going to give you cancer, but once you get in the habit of doing it on a daily basis, you probably will get cancer, because of the compounded effect that all started with that one cigarette. That simple error of judgment compounded over a series of years, is what mattered. It's the small things that don't seem to make a difference today that are the things that make a huge difference in the future.

Now let's take working out as another example. The reason why most people quit working out after their first initial days is because they put so much work into those three or four days and don't see any immediate results. I guess they feel they should see results within two or three days after years of abusing their bodies. That's just not how it works; it takes time before you start seeing any real results that you can be proud of, just as in business. It takes consistency and simple disciplines.

Furthermore, there are no one liners that are going to get people into your business, what you have to grasp are philosophies, empowering philosophies, because your philosophies will drive your actions, and your actions determine your results, and your results determine your lifestyle. Therefore, I suggest you adopt this Slight Edge Philosophy and think about it on a daily basis.

The problem is that most people stop performing the simple disciplines before the compound effect kicks in. It's like the snowball effect; it has to gather some momentum before it becomes a powerful force of nature.

It is this principle alone that distinguishes successful people from unsuccessful people, it is this principle that separates the homeless, from the multi-millionaires. The millionaires take hold of the slight edge philosophy and adopt the concept of simple disciplines, where as, the homeless are totally oblivious and continue to perform the same simple errors in judgement that they most likely started when they were children.

I'm telling you now! If you choose to accept the concept of the Slight Edge Philosophy, you will have a much more abundant life and a much more prosperous business. You really should start applying it to your daily life if you aren't already.

But, the choice is yours; there are two path's you can take!!!

May God Bless You!!
