Manage Your Time or Manage your Priorities?

You could spend a lot of time reading the courses and articles available on the subject of time management. Managing time to ensure everything gets done is one of the most difficult tasks faced by home business owners including myself! But are we best served by managing our time or would managing our priorities make us more productive? All of us have only 24 hours in a day to work, play, and sleep. But why do some people move ahead more quickly with their goals than others?

I am convinced that the difference is prioritization: working on the important tasks first versus filling our days with “filler” tasks. We would all be better served managing our priorities each week rather than trying to manage our time.

Are you asking yourself how you make time to prioritize when you have so many things to do? Start the process by making a list of the activities that you do in your business each week (you could do this by keeping a journal for a week or two). Think about which of these tasks are actively bringing in money to your business? Which tasks are attracting customers, strengthening customer loyalty, establishing you as an expert, or growing you into the business owner you want to be? These are the tasks that should be at the top of your list. It is a well researched fact that typically 20% of our tasks act to produce 80% of our income. You just need to define which daily, weekly and monthly tasks fit into your 20% bucket.

Here are a few suggestions to become more priority focused:

1. Make the most of the times in the day when you have the highest energy levels. Get complex and mentally challenging tasks done during your energy highs. During the lows, take care of low priority, routine, or non-challenging tasks.

2. List the interruptions and habits that sidetrack you from important tasks. What can you do to reduce or eliminate distractions? Email and phone calls are very common distractions. Schedule time each day to check emails and take calls and restrict these activities at other times during the day.

3. Review your goals and your 20% tasks at the start of each week and plan important tasks into your schedule for the upcoming week

4. Carry a notebook everywhere to capture your thoughts and write down important tasks

5. Review your notebook and weekly plan each night and prioritize 5-6 tasks that you will work on the next day

6. The next day work on the most important task on your list until it is complete. Then start work on the 2nd, once it is complete start on the 3rd etc.

7.Hold yourself accountable. Take stock of your achievements each night and identify goals or tasks which you completed and which goals or tasks you need to give more attention

8. Asking questions can be an effective tool to help keep you on track. Whenever you are unsure of what to do next, just ask yourself "What is the most valuable use of my time right now?"

9. Learn to say no to low priority requests so that you have time to complete your high priority tasks

10. Can you delegate low priority or routine tasks to a personal or virtual assistant?

Be careful not to over schedule your time as this creates stress! Always remember to make time in your schedule to learn new things and develop your natural talents and abilities. For example, you could take a class, attend a training program, or read a book. Continuously improving your knowledge and skills increases your marketability, can help boost your career, and is the most reliable path to financial independence. Are there some tasks that you know you put off because of fear? Jump on them - sometimes it is the tasks that we put off that could really catapult us towards our goals!

The Basics of Starting a Home Based Business

Have you thought of starting a Home Based Business? Have you seen dozens of ads like these?

• "Discover How To Make $100,000 a Year From The Comfort Of Your Own Home!"

• "Make Tons Of Money With Little Or No Work!"

Does this sound unbelievable? Well if it does then it probably is. There are tons of marketers on the internet promoting these unbelievable Work At Home offers. 98% of which are getting rich by getting people to believe that you can make unbelievable amounts of money doing absolutely nothing.

I'm not saying that it can't happen but I'm not saying that you won't win the lottery either. Starting a Home Based Business takes some work and effort. If you want to Work AT Home you must understand that this is exactly what it is. "Work". You need to set aside, a time of day and about 20 hours a week in which you can work on developing your Home Based Business.

The first thing you need to do is come up with an idea of what you want to sell. There are many types of Home based businesses to choose from and many products to promote. You can

• Material Products such as Clothing, Bedding, Baby products or anything else that can be bought and shipped to your customers. There are many products that can be sold on the internet.

There might be something that you can make or have created that would be valuable to buyers.

You can find companies that sell products to you at wholesale and you can sell them for a profit.

You can find companies that drop ship products directly to your customers so that you don’t need to keep anything in stock.

• Information Products such as E Books, Software Programs or anything that a customer can purchase and download to their computer. Information products are the rage today. People can download the information they need at any time and most are reasonably priced. There are many products that you can purchase with resale rights and make a good profit. With information products there is nothing to stock up on.

• Promote Affiliate Programs - You promote other peoples products and if they make a sale you get a percentage of the sale. Many people are making a lot of money from affiliate programs. You simply sell other peoples products and you both profit. It’s not as easy as it sounds though. There are many people promoting the same products but with any of these there will be competition

Now, you’ve decided what you are going to sell. Hopefully it is something you that know about and will enjoy selling. Now how are you going to sell them? You will need a website. Building a web site is not quite as hard as it sounds. There are a lot of great web hosts out there and most of them offer site Building software to get you started.

First you will need a Domain Name. This is your www.xxxx.com web address. You will also need a web host. A web host brings your website to the internet. Most of the really good domain names are taken so when you decide to look for one, I suggest that you write down about 5 – 10 names so if one is taken you will have another to try.

Once you have your names, go Domain Service and use their Domain Search Tool to see if a domain name is available. Type in the domain name that you would like to check. If your Domain is taken, they will give suggestions or you can just type in another one.

• I would also suggest that you take a .com name whenever possible.

• Web addresses with a .com name are easier to remember and are visited more frequently.

• If you find a name that you really like, you may want to buy it now. A lot of great domain names are lost by waiting too long to purchase it.

• Try to use a domain name with you product keyword in it if possible.

• Try to make it as short and easy to remember as possible.

These are things that are necessary to get your web site listed on the search engines.

• Search Engine Optimization - Helps your Web site get positioned for top rankings with Google and other leading search engines.

• Web Site Analysis - Lets you know what your site's strengths and potential weaknesses are and helps you secure crucial search engine success.

• Submission - Submit your Web Site to the leading search engines. Around the world or region-specific.

These are just the basics. There much more to learn and so many resources to utilize. There are some great products and informational resources on the internet. Just remember that if it’s too good to be true, it probably is.

Articles Are Quick Cash

One way of promoting your website and product can be achieved for free. As an additional bonus, this “free” method can boost your sites and sales, doubling and even tripling your income.

Articles. One of the easiest ways to promote your website in order to generate traffic and increase your earnings.

How does this work?

Write articles related to your website and submit them to “free content” submission sites. Easy to do, takes little time and can increase your website traffic, sales and of course, your income.

How can article writing boost traffic and income?

The article on the free content site contains a link to your own website. Readers, after reading your articles, may choose to click on the link and pay you an unexpected visit. Having them on the free content sites is also making these articles available to other webmasters who may wish to publish that article on their site.

If they do, your article will include a link back to your site. And anyone who reads the article on that site can still click on the link to visit your site.

As the list of your published articles grow larger, and more and more of them are appearing on different websites, the total number of links to your site increases also. Major search engines are placing a lot of significance on incoming links to websites so they can determine the importance of a certain site.

The more incoming links the website has, the more importance search engines attaches to it. This will then increase your website’s placement in the search results.

If your site is into promoting a product or service, the links that your articles have achieved will mean more potential customers for you. Even if visitors only browse through, you never know if they might be in need of what you are offering in the future.

There are also those who already have specific things they need on their mind but cannot decide yet between the many choices online. Chances are, they may stumble upon one of your articles, gets interested by the contents you wrote, go to your site and became enticed by your promotions. See how easy that is?

Search engines do not just index the websites, they also index published articles. They also index any article that is written about your own website’s topic. So once someone searches for that same topic, the list of results will have your site or may even show the articles that you have written.

And to think, no effort on your part was used to bring them to your site. Just your published articles and the search engines.

It is no wonder why many webmasters are suddenly reviving their old writing styles and taking time to write more articles about their site than doing other means of promotion.

Getting their site known is easier if they have articles increasing their links and traffic and making it accessible for visitors searching the internet. Since many people are now taking their buying needs online, having your site on the search engines through your articles is one way of letting them know about you and your business.

The good thing with articles is that you can write about things that people would want to know about. This can be achieved in the lightest mood but professional manner, with little not-so-obvious sales pitch added.

If you think about it, only a few minutes of your time is spent on writing one article and submitting to free content site. In the shortest span of time also, those are distributed to more sites than you can think of. Even before you know what is happening, you are getting more visitors than you previously had.

If you think you are wasting your time writing these articles, fast forward to the time when you will see them printed and wide-spread on the internet. Not to mention the sudden attention and interest that people are giving your website and your products or services.

Try writing some articles and you will be assured of the sudden surge in site traffic, link popularity and interest. Before you know it, you will be doubling and even tripling your earnings.

Cash from Google Adsense

These days a web business has many excellent tools in the battle to be competitive in their field. One of these powerful tools is the popular Google search engine. Google is successful, so obviously, Google can make your web business a success, as well. It is a fact that over 100 million visitors each and every month can pay testament to this reality. Google.com is one of the largest search engines on the web right now. They have tools engaged to ensure this and they have tools to help you succeed too!

What Google does, is they take the first few lines of text and put that into the search result when someone punches in your keyword. This is how you develop page rank and popularity. There are traffic monitors available to you when you use the Google service. This is wonderful because then you know when you need to adapt your words to locate additional traffic. When dealing with Google, it is extremely important for you to make the first paragraph of your page the largest impact statement. This is what is going to be seen on the search result by the viewer. You need to guarantee that is what they see, impact! This will motivate them to peruse your site. The more views you have to your site, the higher the traffic volume; the more volume, the higher the page ranking and popularity.

A good rule of thumb is have at minimum, 8% of the words you use be keywords, with approximately 300 words being used as the impact paragraph. Because this is what is going to be seen first, you have to make it count! There are what is known as spiders that constantly view sites and record content to use as indexing, however, you never know when they will by surfing your site. It is not always the case that they will index your full site on one trip to it, so you want to ensure that you optimize your pages. They will always start from the top of the page; this is why it is important to have the most impact near the top of the site. The best method of ensuring that your entire site is crawled on by the spiders is to place your site on Google Sitemaps. Automatic updating on the site indexing is one of the excellent perks that come with the Google Sitemaps.

The files saved are XML files; this is like having your very own direct link to Google, like a data cable. Generally, Adsense involves third party advertisements rotated on your web sites pages. Every time someone clicks on the site on your page and they leave yours, you get paid for the Adsense transfer. It is that simple.

How I Make Money Online

Nothing beats the excitement you feel when you first start to make money online. Ever since I got my first computer I had dreamed of owning a web site that would make money for me.

My motivation has always been simple. I want the freedom to live life on my own terms. To be able to do what I want when I feel like it. I want to feel the security of having a regular income. And, finally I want the spending power to be able to buy what I want and go where I want. Not much to ask.

I now know that I went by the long route when I set out to learn how to make money online. I wasted an enromous amount of time, energy and money on learning things I didn't need to know and doing things that are a complete waste of time.

The most annoying thing of all was that the know-it-alls who are reaping the amazing rewards of their success are so poor at showing others how they do it. However, they are very good at charging a lot for their information and then making it hard to understand what they mean. So I made up my mind early on that I would never charge for any information that I pass on to others about how to make money online.

Here are the lessons that I have learned. I consider that they are the real secrets of making money online.

First, start with a niche market. I know this is different from how people do things in the real world, but in cyber space this is the best place to start. The easiest way is to pick on a group of people just like you. People with whom you share a problem.

Second, find a product that solves their problem. There are millions of them out there.

Third, build a really simple, one page web site. Your site only needs to offer a product that solves a problem to the people with the problem.

Fourth, drive traffic to that web site.

Imagine my excitement when, by simply applying this formula, I started receiving e-mails saying: Congratulations, you just made a sale!

The excitement grew when I went to my online bank account and saw the money sitting there, right under my name.

And the excitement reached fever pitch when the congratulations e-mails started coming in ever-increasing numbers.

My advice is simple; don't wait, use the simple formula I've outlined above to build yourself a web site today. Let me show you how. I promise that you will feel massively uplifted when you too start to make money online.
