Is Your Family Really Benefiting When You Work at Home?

You’ve beaten the obstacles and found a way to work at home, whether by finding a job or starting a home business. But is your work getting in the way of time with your family? It may be time to make sure you are finding balance between working at home and your family.

Let’s take a look at some easy things you can do to ensure that you are spending time with your family.

1. Make time for play. Family activities are a great way to relax away from work. It can be as simple as taking a walk or going to the park, or it could be a full day excursion to a museum, amusement part or beach. You don’t have to leave the house, of course. You could play games, make cookies or do other fun activities around the house. The point is to simply have fun as a family and have time to talk to each other.

One way to start is to plan a family night. Tell everyone they have to be home on a particular evening each week and do things as a family. Even if you just rent a movie to watch together, it’s something you’re doing together.

If you’re married, make sure you plan a regular date night with your spouse. Frequency may depend on how old your children are and how often you can get babysitting, but it is important for your marriage to have time as a couple.

You don’t have to spend a lot of money to have fun with your family. Just make time for fun.

2. Be there for your children’s activities. If your children are involved in sports, acting, singing or other activities, make sure you are there for all the games, performances or other important events. It will help your children to know that they are very important to you.

3. Set rules and enforce them. If your children understand when they can interrupt your work you will be able to get more done in less time, giving you more time for your family.

Of course, you need to be consistent. If kids get away with breaking the rules some of the time, they will test the rules often. Consistency will save you time in the long run, even if you aren’t sure you want to spare the time at a particular moment.

4. Pay attention to what kind of attention each child needs. Every child is different. Some demand attention while others are so quiet it’s easy to forget that they need you too. Make sure you spend time with each child as an individual.

5. When the kids come home from school, take some time to talk about their day. They will appreciate your interest. You should also make sure they understand their homework and start it at whatever time they do best at finishing it. Some do best starting homework immediately on getting home, while others do better if they can play for a while first. Be aware of your child’s needs.

6. If your work is something the children can help with, let them be involved. If not, you can still at least talk to them about what you do. This sets a good example for your children by helping them to know what working is really about. It’s easy to get buried in the needs of your work when you work at home. A little bit of planning can go a long way toward making working at home a wonderful experience for all. Your family is why you decided to work at home, so don’t let your time with them get put aside.

Tips On How To Earn Money With a Home Business

Everyone wants tips on how to earn money with a home based business. It never seems to amaze me that a lot of people with a work at home business are not earning some money.

When I got to question a few of these people about why they are not earning any money, I found out why!

People, you have to do something to earn something! Just because you have joined a MLM or affiliate program, don’t think just by sitting back you will earn some money. NOT TRUE!!!

So I have tried to make it easy on these people by coming up with the necessary things you need to do to earn money from home.

If you honestly do these things, and still don’t make any money then maybe a home business is not for you. But you need to be honest about this and put out the effort.

1. When you first start with a work at home business, set out at least an hour a day devoted to your business.

2. Spend the first day advertising your business on the free classified websites, there are literally thousands of these sites to advertise on.

3. If you have a website for your business, then spend day 2 submitting your website to all of the search engines, Yahoo, MSN, Google, AOL, etc.

4. Day 3 start submitting to ezines, this is a very good way to promote your business.

5. Day 4 start by writing an article to use in the yahoo groups. And with this article your can promote your website at the end of the article.

6. Day 5 submit your business to the various business message boards, there are lots out there that let you post an ad for your home business.

7. Day 6 you will want to start advancing up and checking for “Leads” that are interested in starting a home business. When you find a good source you will want to start emailing them. To do this you will want a good auto responder to handle the high volume of emails.

8. Day 7 you will want to start this process all over again.

You can do these steps in any order, but remember persistence is the key. Spend an hour a day for the first 30 days on these 7 items. Each day promote your business in a different way.

Within 30 days you will start to see the rewards of your work that you only spent 7-10 hours a week on!

Further more don’t expect to get rich overnight. The businesses offering “pie in the sky” so to speak do yourself a favor and stay away from those type of offers.

Do yourself a favor when you get involved with a work at home business. You owe it to yourself to give it an honest try. Nothing will happen, if you don’t do anything.

The Beauty Of Working At Home

Working at Home is growing at a phenomenal pace around the world. The beauty of it is that your time is your own and you can dig in anytime you want. Even Large multinationals are now seeing the benefits of employing people in the home workplace.

Because of the vast improvement of communications in the last 10-15 years, the home is now becoming its own office or company in its own right. All of the machines and instruments that were once only located in the work office can now be located and used just as efficiently in the home office. Powerful computers, fax machines and internet connections can now be easily installed in the home.

Discipline and honesty are huge traits that have to be addressed when working from home. Procrastinating your work is not a problem as long as the work gets completed. When working from home, the important matter is not when the work is done, it is that the actual work is being done.

Many entrepreneurs that work from home will tell you that if they have missed work by running some errands during the day, they will complete the work later on that evening or they will do extra the following day. Until you reach a point in your life where you can pick and choose when and where you work, discipline is the foundation on which your work at home business will thrive.

If you have a full time job and are insecure about trying a work at home job, I would first suggest doing it part time. By doing it part time you will start to understand if this life is for you or not.

There is definately people (of which I am not) that love the great out-doors and want to be constantly out of the house 9-5 Monday to Friday. No matter how good an opportunity came along, these people still would not like to do it. On the other hand I believe there is the majority crying out for change. These are the people that would love to try something new if it only would increase the quality of their lives.

These people are the new leaders in internet and network marketing. These people are the people that provide the real determination to succeed in their home based businesses. By reading this article, if you think you are one of these people, then you are in the right place. Give your home based business a try, you have nothing to lose only a regret that you didn’t start it sooner!

Not 10...Not 6...Not 3...ONLY TWO. Two Secrets To Online Success

Everybody says 'follow these steps to achieve success' or 'secrets2success with one time fee' or something like this. They will give you a long list of steps or secrets...what ever you like to call them.

Have you written down that long list of strategies on a paper anytime?

Like Number 1 strategy for success...

Number 2 strategy for success...

Number 3 strategy for success...

If there is any chance you wrote them down on a paper, go now and revise them. Or try to memorize them.

I bet you would see the TWO secrets that I am going to tell you now in that list. Only thing is You don't know how important they are.

After my 17 years of online presence I found these TWO secrets (rather well known secrets) are most important for a business to thrive and establish.

***Number 1 blast away secret:***

"Sell a product which has Demand."

Have you heard of that? Sure you are. But people give least important to this.

Your product has demand in the market? Selling a product that has high conversion rate is profitable than a less marketable product.

Look around you for such product. Check the bulletin boards, participate in discussions, search affiliate products etc. Read the threads in the bulletin boards and look what problems they are facing.

Get to know what people are searching for.

http://50.lycos.com/

http://www.search.com/top?tag=ex.se.fd.col.top

http://www.wordspot.com/

http://metaspy.com/

If you already own a product, then check these again:
• People really gonna need your product?
• What search terms they are using to find out your product or related products?
• How your competitors making money?
• Are your product like products available freely on the web?

If you are not satisfied with any of the criteria about your product, try to improve it or change your product.

***Number 2 blast away secret***

"Advertise Every day, if possible every hour and Minute"

No... I am not crazy. If you don't spend atleast 70% of your alloted time, no matter how much would that be, you don't reach your niche in your target market.

There are so many advertising methods: free or paid.

You don't have to go with paid advertising everytime. There is lot of space for free advertising too.

Some of the methods of advertising:
• Search engine optimization and submission
• Pay per click engines
• Ezine advertising (Free or paid)
• Write ezine articles and submit them to ezines and content sites
• Exchanging links with other websites
• Offline methods like business cards, pamplets etc.
• Building your opt-in list. Give away email courses through your autoresponder software.

Most important thing is 'Persistent Advertising'. One time keeping of an ezine ad and expecting lot of sales... it is not going to happen. Average of three for a click thru and average of seven exposures for a purchase will be necessary. So try to stick on to the same method for few days to see your ROI.

A good product with enough advertising will become a constant source of income for you.

Lastly I want to make a comment on affiliate programs. People join in half a dozen affiliate programs and keep dozens of banners on their webpages. They will expect sales through this method. It's never going to happen this way.

If you want a success in affiliate programs, stick to few of them which come close to your interest and promote them as if they are your own products.

Getting Ready To Work At Home

Good for you! You've decided you are going to start working at home! Now that you are going to "be your own boss" there are some things that you will need to consider, plan, and prepare for before you actually become self-employed, and then after you are successfully working at home.

What Are You Going To Do?

Hopefully, you already have some idea about what it is you are going to do at home to earn money. You should be planning to do something that fits your current skills, educational background, and prior work experience. You might want to be a medical transcriptionist, but if you have never done it before, haven't taken any courses in transcription, and don't have the right equipment (hardware and software), then just wanting to be a transcriptionist won't be enough.

Can you legally, and logistically, start the business you want to operate? Before you decide to open a Doggy Daycare Center, you should find out what licenses or permits you need. Can you do doggy daycare in your backyard or garage, or do you need to rent a storefront? Do you live in a highly populated area where there are likely to be dog-owners who work all day and need doggy daycare?

Is there a ready market for the services you want to offer? Have you taken the time to investigate whether there is a need for your services? Do you know how to approach prospective clients? What are you going to charge?

As you can tell by this list of questions, there are many things to consider before you start working at home.

How Do I Advertise My Business?

You can have the most valuable service to offer, but if no one knows that you are offering the service, you won't get many clients. You don't have to have an unlimited budget in order to start the process of advertising your business. In fact, all you need is a computer and a printer to get started!

You need to think about having business cards, brochures, flyers, and a Business Fact Sheet that lists the services you offer and other pertinent information about yourself and your background (similar to a resume, sometimes called a précis). You should also get your own website, and that is really cheaper than you think it might be.

You also need to think about where you can advertise, either cheaply or, better yet, for free. Schools, churches, and other local organizations often put out newsletters---and you can usually get them to print a facsimile of your business card for a fairly reasonable fee. Look for community bulletin boards when you can tack up your business card or business flyer (be sure to keep a supply of push-pins in your purse or glovebox of your car!).

I've Got Clients, and I'm Getting Paid---Now What?

Congratulations! That's what it's all about! Working at home...and getting paid. Now you have to think about keeping track of your business expenses, keeping accurate records, and preparing to file your Self-Employed Income and pay taxes (Federal Income Tax [FIT], Self-Employment Tax [which is similar to FICA/Medicare], and State and City Tax [SIT] if applicable).

Generally speaking, anything that you buy or pay for strictly to use for business is an eligible business expense. You will need to keep your receipts, statements, and other invoices for these expenditures.

You will need to claim your self-employment income on your Federal (IRS) and State/City income tax forms. The wisest course of action is to consult a tax accountant or contact the IRS directly for assistance in filing. Do keep in mind, however, that you will owe Federal Income Tax, Form 1040, and Self-Employment Tax, Schedule C, which is similar to what is usually called FICA tax. Note also that you must pay both portions of FICA: the approximately 8% that you would have paid as an employee and the 8% that your employer would have paid. This tax is in addition to your FIT/SIT.

As you have read, working at home isn't a "game," but there are lots of "rules." You have to work hard at working at home, but it is rewarding---and you can do it!

Are You An Entrepreneur?

If you were to look up the word entrepreneur in the dictionary you would find that it means "a person who organizes and manages any enterprise, a business usually with considerable initiative and risk." These days the term entrepreneur is used so much that it seems like everybody from stay at home moms, to the local tattoo artist, are claiming to be such. The truth is that as fancy as this word maybe, anyone can be an entrepreneur.

Entrepreneurs can be any shape, size, age, race or religion. What makes an entrepreneur an entrepreneur is commitment, the willingness to lead and the passion to succeed. There are certain characteristics that many of the world's most successful entrepreneurs share. Listed below are a few traits that can help you determine if you truly are an entrepreneur.

Great Focus - True entrepreneurs have great focus. These are individuals that once they have a goal set, no one or nothing can stop them from accomplishing that goal.

Creative - Most entrepreneurs have a seemingly effortless way of being creative. Thinking outside the box; that characteristic alone creates a greater earning potential for their business.

Good With Money - Being able to keep track and manage money wisely is another well-known characteristic of an entrepreneur. Knowing where every dollar and cent is and where they are going is very important to entrepreneurs.

Decision Maker - One who can make big decisions on their own without worrying about others opinions. Being able to stand behind their decision without any doubt whatsoever.

The Ability To Lead - Most entrepreneurs put themselves in the position of being the boss. This may mean that this person has employees under him/her. In this instance, the individual must be able to lead and give direction to others in a clear and productive manner.

Always Learning - True entrepreneurs never stop learning. They are always eager to discover new, more efficient ways to make their business more successful. Learning is a desire, not a necessity for these people.

Fearless - Having no fear is definitely a characteristic of a entrepreneur. Not fearing critics, competitors, consumers and most of all, not fearing failure. Not fearing these things is automatic for any real entrepreneur.

The list above will help you determine if you are indeed an entrepreneur. If you are not an entrepreneur, but aspire to be one you will need to develop most if not all of these traits. If you take the time to embrace and practice these traits; you will be well on your way to becoming a successful entrepreneur!
